You will drop your backpack when you die in Grounded 2. Learn what happens when you die, where to respawn, as well as how to retrieve your backpack.
List of Contents

When you die in the game, your backpack, which contains your Inventory and any resources you're carrying, will drop. You can return to the same spot upon respawning to recover your backpack and everything you lost.
It appears that backpacks don't despawn if you die before recovering them. A new backpack will appear where you died, meaning that you can leave multiple backpacks in the park.

If you die mid-combat, enemies will retain some damage you dealt to them. This can be helpful, as you won’t need to redo the fight and will have a slight advantage when returning to your death spot.

When the game over or You Died screen appears, you're given three options to respawn:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Respawn | You will respawn at your designated Respawn Point, typically a Lean-To or bed. |
| Respawn at Nearest Outpost | You will respawn at the nearest Outpost. |
| Respawn at Onboarding Facility | You will respawn at the Onboarding Facility below the Snack Bar, where you started the game. |
One of the most, if not the most, common ways to die in Grounded 2 is from enemy attacks. Insects deal significant damage, especially the big and aggressive ones, so make sure you're equipped with the best armor and weapons to fend off the vicious creatures in the park.
A classic way to die in video games. Fall damage is present in Grounded 2, but it's a bit more forgiving in terms of the height you need to take damage. Still, it's best to always be aware of your surroundings and assess whether you can survive a jump from a high place.

One of the unique survival mechanics in Grounded 2 is the need to maintain your Hunger and Thirst. When one of the vitals drop to zero, you'll have 90 seconds to replenish yourself before you die. Always bring cooked food or snacks with you, and craft a Canteen to store water.

You can't traverse every part of the park without the appropriate gear. The snow biome inflicts Chilling and slows your movement, while hot areas cause Sizzling, which leads to overheating. Equip the right armor to counter these environmental afflictions.
