Resources are used to strengthen the Doom Slayer in Doom: The Dark Ages. Read on for a list of all resources, the resources count per chapter, as well as where resources are used in this guide!

 Gold |
Used to upgrade your guns, melee weapons, shield upgrades, and shield runes. |
 Ruby |
Used to upgrade your guns, melee weapons, shield upgrades, and shield runes. Rubies will replace Gold as upgrade costs on higher tier upgrades. |
 Wraithstone |
Used to upgrade your guns, melee weapons, shield upgrades, and shield runes. Wraithstones will replace Rubies as upgrade costs on higher tier upgrades. |
 Life Sigil |
Life Sigils can be consumed to revive on the spot instead of respawning from a checkpoint. Only 3 Life Sigils can be held across all chapters. |

Can increase either your maximum health, maximum armor, or maximum ammo of a specific weapon class. |
The table above lists all resources and items obtained throughout the chapters. These are used to purchase upgrades that improve your arsenal's effectiveness in combat, or increase your stats like health, armor, or max ammo, to improve survivability and damage output.

Where to Use Resources and Items
Upgrade Your Arsenal
Resources such as Gold, Rubies, and Wraithstones are used to upgrade your arsenal of weapons and your shield, making them more powerful. Seek out Sentinel Shrines throughout the chapters to upgrade your kit.
Increase Maximum Stats
Demonic Essences increase the threshold of your maximum health, the maximum ammo of a weapon class, or your maximum armor. These resources are obtained by defeating leaders or bosses throughout the story.
You can also earn Demonic Essences by defeating optional bosses found in secret areas within chapters. So, if you want to maximize your stats, find and defeat all of the optional bosses as well.
Life Sigils Save You From Dying
Life Sigils are items you can collect that prevent you from dying and restarting the chapter at the last checkpoint. You can only hold a maximum of three Life Sigils throughout the campaign.
Life Sigils can be carried over between chapters, and you won't be able to pick up new ones if you've already reached the maximum amount you can carry.
Chapter Completion
The resources you collect per chapter counts toward achieveing 100% completion. The total amount of each resource is displayed on the summary screen after finishing a chapter.
You can revisit a chapter to collect any resources and collectibles you missed without any consequences. You can finish the game normally, then return to chapters that aren't yet 100% complete.
