This is a guide to the quest titled Whatsoever a Man Soweth... from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Read on for information on objectives and possible rewards, as well as useful tips and strategies for completing the quest and solving Master Mirror's riddle.

| 1 | Go to the tavern in Oxenfurt to meet Ogierd's man. |
| 2 | Here the objective will split into 2. Talking to Shani is optional, but is strongly recommend. Completing the optional objective will allow you to choose a different ending later on. If you choose to go straight to Olgierd skip to Objective 10. |
| 3 | Meet with Shani in Oxenfurt. |
| 4 | Follow Shani to the Academy. |
| 5 | Enter the Academy through an alternate route. Go back to the brdge you passed. Dive into the water and swim to the marker at the western side of the island. There are 3 Drowned Dead along the shore. |
| 6 | Outside the professor's house are 4 Witch Hunters. Kill them. |
| 7 | The professor's house will be locked. Climb up the scaffolding across his house. Continue up the scaffolding and jump to the balcony of the professor's house. |
| 8 | Use Aard on the door and go down the stairs to the ground floor. |
| 9 | Loot the professor's body and take the key. Use it to open the door. Leave the Academy grounds through the scaffolding to the west. |
| 10 | The marker will lead you into a cave east of Toderas. Enter the cave and climb up the boulders inside. Enter the passageway lit with candles. Go down the stairs into the temple. |
| 11 | If you did the optional objective and talked to the professor you will have 2 choices: to Help Olgierd or Don't get involved. If you did not do the optional objectives, it will not give you a choice, and the quest will continue as if you chose Don't get involved. |
| 12 | If you chose not to get involved you will end the quest, and Gaunter O'Dimm will give you 150 XP and 5 rewards (6 if you did not save Ciri yet) to choose from: ・To be as swift as the wind - Caparison of Lament ・Never go hungry again - Horn of Plenty ・A bottle of vodka that's always full ・To become rich - 5000 Crowns If you did not save Ciri yet Geralt can ask Gaunter O'Dimm where Ciri is. He will tell you it is outside of his powers, but instead will tell you to make sure Ciri survives the White Frost. If you chose to help Olgierd, continue to the next objective. |
| 13 | Follow these steps to solve Gaunter's riddle: ・Follow the path. ・On the first fork are 2 foglet spectres. Kill them, then take the right path. ・At the next branch, take the left path. ・At the next fork take the right path then go up the stairs. ・Jump across the bridge then continue towards the manor. ・2 Gargoyle spectres will be in your way. ・Continue into the manor. ・After falling, go down the stairs and head to the fountain to the north. ・Use Aard on the cracked wall at the back of the fountain. Helping Olgier will give you his steel sword Iris and 200 XP. |
To find a mirror you will need to run to the end of the area to solve the riddle. For you to get to the end you will need to follow these steps:
Water will start pouring out of the wall and will be the mirror that even Gaunter can not break.
If Gaunter is able to take Olgierd's soul, you can choose a reward from the 4 dialogue choices presented, or 5 if you have not saved Ciri yet.
Alternatively you can choose [Don't want anything from you] to not receive a reward.
If you choose to help Olgierd, you will have to solve Gaunter's riddle. Solving his riddle will involves racing against a timer to find the solution in Gaunter's world. You can find the Viper Silver Sword in this trial. After you beat Gaunter, you will also receive the steel sword Iris from Olgierd.
It is recommended to save Olgierd. The Viper Silver Sword is not obtainable through any other means. So if a player would want to complete the set they will have to help Olgierd. You will also receive the steel sword Iris. Iris one of the strongest steel swords in the game, if not the strongest.
The sword has a mechanic where if the player has striked a target with light attacks in quick succession whether blocked or not, it will start flashing red. Using a heavy attack while the sword is in this state will be unblockable and have a knockdown effect similar to Aard at the cost of your own health.
The sword's strong attack also hits twice per execution, whether it is charged or not. The double hit will also affect the skill Rend, making this sword really effective for strong attack focused builds.
The only way to obtain the Viper Venomous Silver Sword is by helping Olgierd. At the third fork in the road, turn left instead of right. A Hym spectre will be in the way.
Go up the stairs to the sword in the stone and loot it to get the sword. You will still have enough time to take the sword and solve the riddle.
After jumping the bridge, take the right path. You will see a glowing cave. Go into it for some considerable loot. You can loot the sword in the cave and still have enough time to solve the riddle.

An easy way is to just run for it. You literally just run past the monsters. Maybe not the monster near the sword. But everything else you can just run by.

Just run for it. I never killed any monster there. Just run straight for the viper sword. Get it. Run into the house. You can stop by the cave too but the viper sword is the important one. I had plenty of time left when I reached the end. Just Usain bolt your way through it. You have to take a left after you encounter the foglets. You can fight them for XP but I just bolted. Straight for the sword and into the house.
