Beginner Special Lanes consist of one or two obstacles that may move from side to side or remain static.
When encountering these lanes, you can adjust your position using the thumbstick or rotate using the Y Button and the A Button before throwing the bowling ball to avoid hitting the obstacles on the lane.
Intermediate Special Lanes puts two or more moving or static obstacles on the sides and the middle of the area, requiring you to use advanced techniques to avoid landing the bowling ball in the gutter.
Mastering the Hook maneuver is recommended as most obstacles in this lane are situated in the middle, making it next to impossible to throw the ball in a straight line.
Advanced Special Lanes are the most difficult out of the three, requiring you to use maneuvers not usually used in regular Bowling mode.
Obstacles in this lane are placed in areas that require you to use the Hook, control the speed of the bowling ball, as well as careful aiming and positioning before throwing.

There is a chance that playing Bowling online starts the game in Special Mode once you enter the Pro League. They most likely appear once you have reached D-Rank and above, so be sure to practice bowling in special lanes to avoid getting demoted!
