Trial Mode is a feature in Nintendo Switch Sports that allows players with no Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play against CPUs in online matchmaking and earn up to two items from collections. Read on for more details about Trial Mode and what else you can do without an online subscription!
List of Contents
Nintendo Switch Sports' Trial Mode feature allows players with no active Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions to battle against CPU-controlled Sportsmates upon entering random matchmaking in Play Globally.
CPU Sportsmates: Does The Game Have NPCs?
Sport variety can still be enjoyed in Trial Mode as players can still queue for multiple sports when looking for a CPU match to connect to.
Queueing for three separate sports is unlocked after playing three different sports in Play Globally.
How to Queue for Multiple Sports
While playing in Trial Mode, players are still able to collect points and make use of point bonuses while playing any sport.
However, only two items can be obtained, which amounts to collecting 200 points.
Those playing in Trial Mode can only collect two items from the most recent Collection featured in the game. This means that those do not have an online subscription will not be able to get any items from older Weekly Collections.
Additionally, after obtaining two items, the Collection will be locked and players will have to wait for a new Weekly Collection to be added to get more items.
All Item Collections and Dates
As players in Trial Mode will be matched against CPUs when matchmaking, Pro League cannot be unlocked. Those who wish to play ranked battles in the future must need an active online subscription in order to unlock the Pro League and get matched with real players.
For those who already active ranks in the Pro League, progress will be put on hold when their Nintendo Switch Online subscription runs out.
Winning or losing against CPUs in Trial Mode will not reward or deduct points from Pro League ranks and will be unaffected until the online subscription is renewed.
Once renewed, players can then jump back in and continue making their way up in the League!
