Switch Sports is now released worldwide as of April 29, 2021, with both physical and digital versions available in participating stores and the Nintendo eShop respectively.
Nintendo Switch Sports Release Date and Editions
Switch Sports is confirmed to have six sports available on launch, with a seventh one (Golf) to be added post-release some time in Fall 2022 as part of a Free Update.

Players can host local lobbies with their Switch. Every game can be hosted with a single Switch and played in the same room. Online lobbies are also available but requires a Nintendo Switch Online Membership.
Local and Online Multiplayer Features
On top of online lobbies with friends, players can also enter global matchmaking for every sport. Players are pit with and against each other based on their wins and overall skill. Again, a Nintendo Switch Online Membership is required for online functionality.
Payers are eligible to participate in that sport's Pro League once enough wins have been achieved in a single sport. Pro Leagues is a competitive game mode that has 12 skill-based ranks starting from E all the way to A.
Online Pro League: Ranks and How to Enter
Two Free Software Updates have been confirmed to be ship out on post-release for Nintendo Switch Sports. While no exact date is provided at this time, we can expect these updates to release in the following seasons of 2022.
