Rocket Serves in Nintendo Switch Sports are incredibly fast tennis serves that require precise timing and quick wrist movement. Read on for a full guide on how to consistently hit rocket serves and the benefits of doing so!
List of Contents
To hit a rocket serve in tennis, you need to hit the ball at its highest point in the air, which is half a second later after you have thrown the ball upwards.
You can look at the screen to get the timing right, but you'll have more consistent results if you count by yourself rather than relying on visuals.
To have greater success in hitting a rocket serve, take some time and count to get in the rhythm.
Start counting, either verbally or mentally, in seconds. Then, wind it up a little and start counting in half-seconds. Once you've got the rhythm, throw the ball as you count and hit the serve on the next count!
Be careful not to overdo it, especially in online matches, as you need to serve the ball within the allotted time limit!
To successfully hit a rocket serve, you also need to get the timing of your swing correctly.
We recommend starting and finishing the serve by twisting your wrist instead of using your entire arm. Using your wrist takes a shorter time to complete the motion of the serve compared to moving your entire arm around.
If your swing connects with the ball too early or too late, you will not be able to perform a Rocket Serve. Using your wrist and doing small movements with your hand will let you be more precise to hit the correct timing.
You will be able to determine if you have successfully performed a rocket serve if the ball's trail is red after you hit it with a racket. You will also hear a unique hit sound from your racket.
Rocket serves are quick and powerful services in tennis. When you hit it, it will send the ball faster to the other side of the court compared to a normal serve.
This can also be used to catch your opponent off guard, as to receive a rocket serve your opponent needs to react as soon as the ball hits on their side!
Successfully landing multiple rocket serves in one tennis match online can net you a x1.1 point bonus multiplier for performing well in the game.
If you are always playing tennis in random matchmaking and want to get more points to unlock items in the collection, aim to hit rocket serves in your matches!
