They do not affect how many points you earn, the items you receive, or provide concrete performance buffs in the specified sport or match. Following the advice on the fortune also does not grant you any additional benefits.

They likely only serve as minor details that give general advice or encourage players to try out different sports. Any effects that it does have, if any, are minor and unnoticeable.
