The Type of a Monster will determine what Oil it is weak against. For example, Monsters of the Necrophage Type will receive 10% extra damage from Swords coated in Necrophage oil.

You will encounter this fight during the Main Quest: Bald Mountain. This fight makes you use Ciri and also includes the Weavess and the Brewess.
The best way to deal with the Whispess is to eliminate the Brewess first and attack it from behind by constantly moving around to evade its attacks. Once you are able to connect 3 or more hits on the Whispess be careful for any of it counterattacks which can possibly stun you. You can abuse Ciri's teleporting attack since it will hit a target 3 times if they are the only ones present in the target radius.
You cannot make any preparations for this fight since you will be using Ciri.
