The upgraded Fire copy ability has high firepower and can inflict passive burn damage over time. You can also use the copy ability's jump attack to quickly maneuver around the arena and evade King Dedede's attacks.
Using the upgraded Ranger copy ability allows you to attack King Dedede from a safe range and avoid most of his close-range attacks.
Watch out for the rushing slam attack as it can only be avoided by dodging or digging underground using the Drill copy ability.

King Dedede will use a rushing slam attack that outpaces Kirby's running speed. You can avoid getting hit by this move by dodging at the right time.
If you are using the Drill copy ability, you can dig underground to avoid this attack.

When King Dedede uses the body slam attack, you can hover over to avoid getting hit by the shockwave. Watch out for King Dedede's shadow to avoid getting directly hit by the slam.

After depleting King Dedede's health to 40%, you can swallow his hammer to obtain the Hammer copy ability.
If you are using a copy ability beforehand, you need to drop it as soon as the boss falls to complete the mission.

Once you reach the second phase of the fight, King Dedede will slam the column onto the ground, creating cracks on the floor that produces icicles. Move to the spots with no cracks to avoid getting hit by the icicles
If you are using the Fire copy ability, you can use its jump attack to move quickly to the safe spot.

King Dedede will slam the column on the ground vertically followed by a horizontal swing attack. You can avoid this attack by moving far from the column's reach or by dodging at the right time.
If you are using the Drill copy ability, you can dig underground to avoid the horizontal swing attack. However, you can still take damage if he uses the vertical swing attack.

You receive the Homing Bomb Blueprint as a reward for defeating King Dedede. This allows you to upgrade the Bomb copy ability.
