You may play the mail sorting mini game in Dragon Roost Island in order to gain Rupees. This is useful if you are not in the late game yet.
Each round is 30 seconds, and the challenge gets harder every time you clear the previous requirement. Once you get to the last level of difficulty, you will be earning around 75 Rupees on your first play.
It is recommended to stop playing after clearing all difficulty goals, as the rewards will decrease afterwards.
This Mini Game can be found in any island. Once you obtain the Hero's Bow in the Tower of the Gods, you may use All-Purpose Bait to play the target shooting mini game. You will need to hit as many fishmen as you can with 10 arrows.
You will receive 10 Rupees per successful hit. If you do not miss any shot, you will be rewarded with 200 Rupees.

If you are playing on the Switch 2 with the NSO service, you may farm the Squid Hunt Mini Game. This version has access to save states, which allow you to save and reset in the middle of the game. If you do not mind taking advantage of this feature, it will be easy to get high scores.

In addition to the mini games mentioned above, some other mini games give Rupees as rewards. This includes the Sliding Picture Puzzle mini game and the Boating Course mini game.

Some chests will contain Rupees. Be sure to seek them out by exploring islands and dungeons or pulling up Treasure Chart chests from the sea.

Enemies typically drop items when they are defeated, including Rupees. You farm Rupees from enemies or sell the other spoils that they drop.

Grass and pots can contain items such as Hearts and Rupees. Be sure to break them when you see them to earn a few more Rupees.

Rupees are the main currency in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, similar to other games in the franchise. You may use Rupees to buy items to aid you in your quest.

There are several shops in the game that you can buy items from. There are a number of Beedle Shop Ships on the sea across the map. There are also a handful of shops in Windfall Island.
You may also purchase from Rats in indoor and underground areas. You must give them All-Purpose Bait in order to open their shops.
| Item | Price | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Bait Bag | 20 Rupees | Beedle's Ship Shop (Outset Island) |
| Boat's Sail | 80 Rupees | Zunari's Shop (Windfall Island) |
| Empty Bottle | 500 Rupees | Beedle's Ship Shop (Rock Spire Isle) |
| Heart Piece | 950 Rupees |
Beedle's Shop Ship (Rock Spire Isle) |
| Treasure Chart #4 | 900 Rupees |

Story and quest items are the best items to prioritize when choosing what to purchase. These are unique items that help you progress through the story.
It is also recommended that you buy the Heart Piece and Treasure Chart from Beedle's Shop Ship. Buying these items will increase your Heart capacity, as the Treasure Chart marks the location of another Heart Piece.

You may get useful items such as a Piece of Heart, Treasure Charts, and Joy Pendants by bidding in the Auction House. You may also acquire the Swift Sail in the HD version.
You may find the Auction House in Windfall Island.

You will need Tingle to decipher your Triforce Charts order to find the locations of their associated Triforce Shards. This will cost 398 Rupees per chart, so it is ideal to have a lot of Rupees on hand.

You can only carry up to 5000 Rupees after getting the maximum level of wallet upgrades. Once your wallet is full, you cannot obtain any more Rupees.
The initial wallet capacity is 200 Rupees in the original version and 500 Rupees in the HD version. However, you can speak to the fairies in Northern Fairy Island and Outset Island to increase this.
