Location: Forsaken Fortress - A1 In the same tower where you found the Dungeon Map, drop down to the lowest floor and step on the switch behind the barrels. This will open a cell with a chest inside containing the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Pawprint Isle - E2 From Windfall Island, sail to the southeast until you come across a group of isles shaped like a giant pawprint. At the center isle, look for an opening on the pad and crawl through to find a hole. Drop down to the underground area and turn right in the next room. You will find a chest at the end of the path containing a Piece of Heart. |

Location: Dragon Roost Island - F2 After defeating Gohma, you can return to the mail-sorting center in Dragon Roost Island to play another sorting minigame. Sort at least 25 letters within 30 seconds and you will soon receive a letter with a Piece of Heart attached from one of the postboxes. |

Location: Angular Isles - E7 Climb onto the isle and find cubes with sigils on them. Move these cubes around in order to be able to climb upwards. Once you have reached the top, defeat the Blue ChuChu. Open the chest afterwards to obtain the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Five-Star Isles - G7 Find the submarine in the southeast area and defeat the opponents guarding it inside. Afterwards, climb the ladder on the far side of the room to reach the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Flight Control Platform - G2 Enter the Bird-Man Contest, which costs 10 rupees per attempt. Beat the current flight record by hitting at least two different vortices. You must try to keep your flight path as straight as possible to be able to obtain the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Bomb Island - F5 Destroy the boulder at the top of Bomb Island and jump into the newly revealed cave entrance. Place a curled up Magtail on the switch in order to open the door. Head to the narrow path on the left and jump onto the switch inside the hole. Walk back and head to the newly unblocked path to the right. Throw Magtails onto the switches to lower the fire surrounding the chest in the cave. Open the chest to obtain the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Southern Fairy Island - D6 Open Treasure Chart #4 to reveal the location. Once you have arrived, pull the Piece of Heart up with the Grappling Hook. |

Deku Tree Heart Piece
Location: Deku Tree Talk to the Great Deku Tree to receive the locations of the Withered Deku Trees. Fill an Empty Bottle with Forest Water in the Forest Haven. Use the Ballad of Gales to warp to the Withered Deku Tree locations. This allows you to be able to water them all within the 30-minute time limit. You receive a Piece of Heart after succeeding. |

Location: Windfall Island - D2 Enter the Auction House to see if they are offering the Piece of Heart. Reenter as many times as necessary until it offered. You must win the auction and become the highest bidder in order to obtain it. |

Location: Windfall Island - D2 Talk to Maggie on the second floor of the auction house. Deliver the letter she gives you to the postbox at the town entrance. Return to the auction house to find Ilari, then follow him to the cafe above Zunari's stall. Receive Moe's letter from him, then deliver it to Maggie. She will then give you a Piece of Heart. |

Location: Windfall Island - D2 Climb the ladder behind the lighthouse on top of the Squid Hunt minigame. Stand on the switch at the top of the ladder and play the Wind's Requiem. Set the wind to blow north to reactivate the windmill. Afterwards, head to the platform in front of the windmill carriages. At night, shoot a Fire Arrow into the spinning object to light the lighthouse torch to your right. After the lighthouse is lit up again, talk to Kreeb at daytime to receive the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Windfall Island - D2 After reactivating the windmill and lighthouse in Windfall Island, head to the bomb shop. Set the wind to blow southeast and glide to the island southwest of the bomb shop. Open the chest there to receive the Piece of Heart. |

Location: Outset Island - B7 Go to Rose and Abe's house and head to their pigpen. Use the Power Bracelets to carry the large pig to the lower area of the island and cross the planks to reach the east side. Put the pig down on the dark patch of soil near the rocky wall and spread some All-Purpose Bait. The pig will dig into the soil, revealing the Piece of Heart. |

What is the Max Number of Hearts?
20 Hearts
You can have a maximum of 20 Hearts in The Wind Waker. This consists of 11 Hearts from Heart Pieces, 6 Heart Containers from bosses, and the 3 Hearts you start with.
All Upgrades and How to Obtain Them
What Do Heart Pieces Do?
Collect 4 to Increase Max Hearts
Similar to obtaining a Heart Container, Link will gain an additional and permanent heart whenever he collects 4 Heart Pieces. These Pieces of Heart can be obtained while exploring main dungeons and side content like mini games, side quests, and optional areas.
Gain Up to 11 Hearts From Heart Pieces
There is a total of 44 Heart Pieces to be collected in The Wind Waker, which means Link can gain up to 11 additional Hearts from Pieces of Heart on top of what he can receive through whole Heart Containers.
One Heart Piece Differs Between Versions
Although you can collect 44 Pieces of Heart in both the original Wind Waker and Wind Waker HD, the Heart Piece found in the Savage Labyrinth in the GameCube version of the game is no longer available in the Wii U version. It is replaced by a Heart Piece from a Treasure Chart exclusive to Wind Waker HD.
