Free Roam is available after completing Chapter 2 in Mafia: The Old Country. See how to unlock Free Roam, and what you can do in Free Roam in this guide.
On August 15, 2025, the official Mafia twitter account has confirmed that Free Ride will be available free for all players as an upcoming update. This likely includes new side activities similar to Mafia I's Free Ride mode.

Currently, Explore Mode is available as a feature in Mafia: The Old Country. This mode lets you go to most places on the map without confining you to following the game's main objectives.
Unlike the previous game's Free Ride mode, this mode does not have any side activities and enemy spawns. You can only drive around the map and hunt down for collectibles.

In previous games, the Free Ride mode is a feature that lets you explore the world of Mafia. This acts like a toggleable open world feature where you can explore and drive anywhere on the map.
Free Ride has also been confirmed by the developers in a recent post, wherein new activities and additional gameplay will be added in the next few months. This will further improve the replayability of the game.
Do You Need to Play the Previous Games?

After completing Chapter 2, head back to the main menu and select the Chapter Replay option. From here, select the Explore option to freely roam the world allowing you to find collectibles, take your cars and horses for a ride, and spend in-game currency.
