How to Get Horses
The Stable is First Introduced in Chapter 4 in Story Mode
While you already ride your first horse in the Prologue, the ability to access other horses starts in Chapter 4. The Stable is where you can select which horse you'd like to ride, view info on each of them, and purchase them for Dinari. You can even purchase and equip accessories for your horses here.

Get Cosimo From the Deluxe Edition
Cosimo the horse is part of the Padrino Pack, which is included in the Deluxe Edition of Mafia: The Old Country. If you want a sleek, black-and-white horse with a whopping total of 4 spurs, you could consider getting the Deluxe Edition of the game.

Tesoro is a Pre-Order Bonus
Tesoro the horse is part of the Soldato Pack, which is a bonus for pre-ordering the game. Once Mafia: The Old Country released on August 8, 2025, this pack is sadly not available to obtain anymore.

Put on Horse Accessories in the Stable
Once you can access the Stable in either Chapter 4 or Explore mode, you can already put on accessories for your horses from there! You can even purchase other accessories using Dinari.

Spur Horses to Run Faster

While riding a horse, you can spur horses to make them go faster. Each horse has a different amount of times it can spurred. You can check this by viewing the info on each horse in the Stable or by viewing the lower right corner if you're currently riding one.
Spurring horses have separate cooldowns, which means you can use all three consecutively for one big speed boost, or use them in intervals for a more consistent speed boost.
Do note that there's some segments in the game where you cannot spur your horse. You'll be able to tell if you can spur if the icons appear on the lower right.

While chasing an enemy on horseback, you can shoot while riding on a horse. Your crosshair will automatically aim at an enemy for you to shoot at, although you may need to direct it if you want to switch targets.
