Eden's Gate: Descent (Normal) is the second fight of the first raid tier of the Eden raids in patch 5.01 of Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers (FF14). Read on to learn the raid mechanics, attack patterns, and rewards of this boss fight!
A huge line AoE will spawn in the middle of the arena where the boss is positioned during Doomvoid Guillotine. Simply dodge to avoid getting damaged and debuffs.
Adds will spawn after the line AoE goes out. These adds will move slowly towards the direction they're facing, so reposition to avoid getting damaged.
Doomvoid Slicer is a Donut AoE attack. Stand on the safe spot to survive the mechanic.
Afterwards, another set of adds will spawn on the arena and moves in a plus-shaped pattern.
Move out of the way to dodge and avoid getting debuffs.
Get ready to use your tank cooldowns and soak damage during Shadowflame's double tankbuster.
Once the boss casts Dark Fire III, chosen players will have huge AoE circles placed on them.
Spread out to avoid hitting each other.
Immediately after, Unholy Darkness will be casted and places a stack marker on a player.
Stack together to split the damage and heal the party to get ready for the next mechanic.
Spell In Waiting causes attacks to be delayed and places a countdown marker on affected players.
Delayed Dark Fire III places an AoE on selected players. The AoEs won't go off immediately, but players can start to reposition and spread out once the countdown starts.
Just like the prior Unholy Darkness, a stack marker will be placed on a character except it won't go off immediately.
Stack with the party until the damage goes out!
Dark Fire and Unholy Darkness will be casted at the same time and will go out at the same time as well.
If marked with an AoE circle, make sure to stay spread out. For the player with the stack marker, stack with the remaining players that did not get a marker until damage goes out to survive both mechanics.
Entropy deals raid-wide damage, so get ready to shield and heal the party once it goes out.
Hand of Erebos will spawn knockback markers on the entire arena. Either use Arm's Length or Surecast to avoid getting knocked off the arena, or simply reposition to the edge of the arena, opposite the direction of the knockback.
Another Doomvoid Guillotine will be casted, so avoid the massive line AoE by repositioning.
Adds will spawn again with a knockback mechanic this time. Reposition to the edge of the arena opposite the markers while avoiding the adds to avoid getting hit once the knockback happens.
Five circles will spawn during Punishing Ray, and players need to stand on it and soak the Bleeding damage.
A stack marker will also be placed on a player during Delayed Unholy Darkness, so wait for the circles to go out first before going in to stack with the others!
Punishing Ray will be casted again along with a knockback mechanic. Reposition to safely survive the knockback first before moving into the circles.
Shadoweye places a Gaze marker on a player. If you're the marked player, stand and face away from the party. If not, make sure to look away from the marked player to avoid getting petrified.
Delayed Shadoweye places a Gaze marker on a player but the damage won't go out until the countdown is done. Make sure to turn away from the marked player to avoid being petrified.
Afterwards, all mechanics will now repeat until the boss is taken down.
