AAC Light-heavyweight M1 (Normal) is the first raid in the first tier of the Arcadion in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail (FF14). Read on to learn more about the boss, Black Cat, and a guide to the raid mechanics and attack patterns during the boss fight!
List of Contents
Bloody Scratch will deal physical raid-wide damage. Mitigate with shields and heals from the healers, Reprisal from the tanks, and Feint from melee DPS as needed.
One of Black Cat's long claws will begin to glow followed by the other one in preparation for two half-room cleave attacks. Stay on the side with the second set of glowing claws and move to the other side after the first attack.
Two sets of lines will start to appear on the floor in either the cardinals (+) or the diagonals (×). Black Cat will launch conal attacks in the marked directions in sequence so stay on the second set of lines first to dodge the first set and then move after the first attack to dodge the second set.
A telegraphed single-target tank buster that does heavy physical damage on the main tank. Mitigate the damage with physical damage reductions, shields, and heals.
A random player will be marked for an AoE magic damage attack. All players need to group up on the stack marker to share the incoming damage. Shield and heal through the AoE damage.
When Black Cat starts casting Mouser, pay attention to the red flashes that start to appear on the tiles of the arena. After the cast, Black Cat will launch AoE attacks on the targeted tiles to deal damage and break the tile after two hits.
Dodge the attacks as best as you can but always be sure to stand on the tiles that will not break. For an easier time, focus on the middle four tiles of the arena during the cast time of Mouser to determine the safe tile.
Tile is Safe | Tile will Break |
---|---|
A random player will be targeted for an attack that will send them flying to another tile and damaging it. Position yourself to get launched to a safe uncracked tile to avoid falling. You'll be able to see the trajectory and where you will land so position accordingly.
Shockwave is a radial knockback attack that deals magical damage and pushes you away from the center. Position yourself to get knocked back diagonally (×) to a safe tile or use knockback immunities like Arm's Length.
While Black Cat casts Predaceous Pounce, circle AoEs and line AoEs (paw prints) will appear on the floor indicating the order of where she will attack after casting. Determine a safe area to stay in to avoid getting hit by by heavy DoT debuff. Moving into the first area she strikes is generally safe.
After Predaceous Pounce ends, all players will be targeted by Grimalkin Gale with an AoE marker around them. Spread and avoid overlapping with other players to avoid unnecessary damage.
The same as One-two Paw except Black Cat will move to a marked location before launching the attack. Stay on the safe side of the marker where boss will not hit first.
Also the same as Black Cat Crossing except Black Cat will move to a marked location before launching the attack. Stay on the safe direction around the marker where boss will not hit first.
After Black Cat casts Mouser a second time, she will use Copycat to summon an untargetable copy of herself in the north edge of the arena to use abilities along with the original.
After Black Cat summons Copy Cat, she will target random players with Overshadow while the copy targets players with Elevate and Eviscerate. Overshadow is a line AoE attack for players to stack and share the damage. Players targeted by the copy should focus on landing on safe tiles.
After the second Shockwave and the arena regenerates, Black Cat will summon her Copy Cat again. The copy will use Predaceous Pounch while the original will prepare a One-two Paw during the copy's attacks. Be prepared to run back to the center after dodging the copy's Predaceous Pounce to also dodge One-two Paw.
AAC Light-heavyweight M1 will be unlocked after completing the quest “The Claw in the Dark” from the questline received from the Stylish Stranger in Solution Nine (X:19.1, Y:18.8)
