Biowaste Hotouse has a base output of 70 Food. It also unlocks the Excessive Fertilisation District Ability which increases Food output but also Disease.
The Teaching Hospital is a good building to start with to decrease Disease. It also unlocks the Preliminary Triage District Ability which decreases Disease but increases deaths.
Pharmaceutical Testing Laboratory significantly decreases Diseases and Research Speed. It also unlocks the Boost Research District Ability which increases Research Speed further but lowers the building's effect on Disease.
Heat Dispatcher is recommended as it gives 20 Heat and doesn't have any negative effects.
Patrol Watchtower is the best option as it gives 16 Guard Squads while decreasing Crime at the same time. The Random Search district ability is also unlocked which can decrease Crime during emergencies. However this ability raises Tension, so use it wisely. Lastly, Patrol Watchtowers also have no heat requirement
Isolation Prison significantly decreases crime while having no negative effects. It also unlocks the Mobilise Prison Wardens
district ability.
Moss-Filtration Towers are useful if you built a lot of factories and chose the Defeat the Frost route as they significantly decrease Squalor. It also unlocks the Rapid Filtration" district ability which can decrease Squalor in emergencies in exchange for injuring some of your Workforce . This building will be of great help during Chapter 2 when you choose to defeat the frost.
Waste Repurposing Facility extremely decreases Squalor. However, it needs 1 Core and Ventilation Towers before it can be built.
The Survivalists' Headquarters can be built early as long as you have spare resources for it. Building this will lessen the threat levels of the Frostlands, making them accessible for resources.
Placing Communication Hubs next to Housing Districts slightly increases Trust. It is better to put it next to multiple ones to multiply this effect.
Fighting Hubs should be placed next to multiple Housing Districts as doing so would decrease Tension by a lot.
Untreated Sawmill only requires 20 heat to produce 170 materials. However, it requires more Workforce and Diseases will slightly increase in exchange.
The Salvaging Factory produces 40 Goods and is accessible in the early parts of the game. However, it needs 60 materials and it increases Squalor in exchange.
When you unlock factories, Refurbishing Goods Factory will be available. They can produce 60 goods. However, it also increases Disease.
You can build multiple Teaching Hospitals to massively increase Researching Speed while decreasing Disease at the same time. Make sure to expand your Housing Districts as you can only build them there.
The Research Institute will be available as soon as you have an expanded Housing District in Chapter 1. Building multiple Research Institutes increases Research Speed even more. This also unlocks the Idea Tree early on.
