Launch Expeditions in the Frostlands

Explore past the Frozen Bay territory to the west of New London to find the first Oil Storage located at the Old Dreadnought in Chapter 1. There are currently only 2 Oil Deposits that can be found in the Frostlands, one in the north and another just below the Old Dreadnought.

We recommend looking for other sources of Oil in Chapter 3 as this is where you have all the time to stockpile resources and explore the Frostlands.

Research Ideas Related to Oil

The best Ideas to research for getting more Oil would be the Pumpjacks and Coal Liquefactors as these give a flat boost to Oil Output when constructed on an expanded Extraction District. Make sure you have enough Heatstamps as each of these ideas cost a lot of them.

Construct Fractured Pumpjacks and Pressurized Coal Liquefactors

Once you have the ideas researched, make sure to have your Extraction Districts expanded so you can start building the Fractured Pumpjack, which gives an additional 100 Oil Output, and the Pressurized Coal Liquefactor that gives 80 Oil Output as well.

When you reach further into the game, the Advanced Fractured Pumpjack will give 220 Oil Output so make sure to research this in the Idea Tree if ever your Heat Output is getting low.

Choose to Embrace the Frost

At the start of Chapter 2, you are given a choice whether to Defeat the Frost or Embrace the Frost. We recommend choosing the Embrace the Frost option as this will upgrade the Generator to use any type of fuel instead of just Coal and Oil, and will also provide unlimited output frostland settlements.
