Acquire a Total of 40 Cores
If you chose to salvage Winterhome, you'll need to acquire 40 Cores to outfit New London's Generator with a Hyperdrive Regulator.
You do not need to get the 40 Cores exclusively from Winterhome. Cores obtained from other places in the frostland are counted!
Use Rapid Frostbreaking If You Have Extra Workforce
Rapid Frostbreaking is much faster than Safe Frostbreaking, but comes at the cost of exposing workers to toxic gas.
Only use Rapid Frostbreaking if you are willing to make sacrifices and have plenty of Workforce. Otherwise, use Safe Frostbreaking instead.
If your workers in Winterhome die due to the hazardous environment, you can send more Workforce from New London!
Use Automated Workforce for Safety
Automated Workforce provides an even safer option to safely Frostbreak towards Core resource nodes.
Automated Workforce can be researched under the Resources tab and is built on Industrial Districts.
How to Unlock the Idea Tree and All Ideas
Move People Back to New London Immediately
Move everyone out of Winterhome and back to New London immediately after you've collected 40 Cores to avoid further exposure of workers to toxic gas.
To do this, click on the Winterhome icon on the top right, select Send People, and move the slider all the way to New London.
Repair Districts
Some districts may suffer damage due to the harsh environment, as indicated by a red, cracking icon. Repair them by clicking on the wrench icon when you select the district, at the cost of Heatstamps.
Research and Construct: Hyperdrive Regulator
Research In the Heating Tab
The Hyperdrive Regulator research is found in the Heating tab under the third Generator Upgrade.
Ideally, you should be researching this while gathering the required amount of Cores.
Construct In Central District
After acquiring 40 Cores, construct the Hyperdrive Regulator in the Central District. This is the final upgrade for New London's Generator and allows you to completely “defeat the frost”.
Keep Cold Absent in New London
In practice, you should be maintaining the absence of Cold all the time. Research ideas and enact laws that reduce Heat demand if you're still missing some.

Build Fume Filtration Districts
If you choose to settle in Winterhome, you'll need to make the place habitable by building Fume Filtration Districts on three Toxic Gas Springs.
Note that each Fume Filtration District requires one Core to build.
Transfer Resources to Alleviate Demands
While you're in the process of rehabilitating Winterhome, you can transfer your extra resources from New London to alleviate the demands.
Send Expeditions to Look for Resources
To help meet the demand for resources, you can send Frostland Teams on expeditions to look for resources and transfer them directly to Winterhome.
Rapid Frostbreaking Is Faster
Rapid Frostbreaking is much faster than Safe Frostbreaking, but is much more dangerous for your Workforce.
Use Automated Workforce If Available
If you have already researched Automated Workforce, you may use them instead to do the Frostbreaking. This is safer and does not expose your Workforce to danger.
Build Watchtowers for Saboteurs
Consider building Watchtowers to prevent members of the opposing faction from sabotaging your efforts to repair Winterhome.
Rebuild Winterhome
To successfully rebuild Winterhome, the colony must have at least 9,000 population. You can quickly reach this population my sending people from New London.
Cold, Hunger, and Disease must be absent in Winterhome so address them by constructing the appropriate buildings and laws.
This chapter will conclude shortly after these two conditions are achieved.
