How to Decrease Tension

Control City Problems

If your City is struggling with high levels of Cold, Hunger, Disease, Squalor, and Crime, your Tension will rise as well. If Tension reaches maximum limit, the City will fall into uncontrollable chaos and it will lead to a game over.
Address problems like shortages of Resources as soon as you can.

Deradicalise Factions

Factions with high Fervour or bad Relations can also cause Tension to rise significantly. Do your best to regulate the peace among Factions by avoiding their radicalisation and keeping their Relations Neutral at the very least.

Research Ideas

Certain Ideas can lower Tension once researched. Solutions could be found in Buildings, Laws, or general upgrades to the City that can only be unlocked via the Idea Tree. Ideas like Liberated Youth can indirectly lower Tension by increasing overall Trust, while the Fighting Hub can decrease Tension directly.

Frostpunk 2Tension

Tension shows you how troubled the people are in your City. You can see it in the form of an orb in the bottom-middle of your screen. The more Tension your City has, the more black liquid will fill the orb. Hovering over the orb with your cursor will display the severity of the Tension and the factors that are currently increasing it.

Factors that Affect Tension

  1. Cold
  2. Hunger
  3. Disease
  4. Squalor
  5. Crime
  6. Fervour

The levels of these factors dynamically affect the Tension level of your City. Make sure to keep all these factors absent or as low as possible.
