With Abyss's Early Game being centered around farming, the Air Rifle Gun's 55 DMG baseline is more than welcome in dealing with most fish in the Forgotten Deep, with a decent Damage artifact allowing you to one-shot Salmons.
It should be noted that the Air Rifle suffers from a considerably long charge time, but can be mitigated by using Cooldown Reduction artifacts to boost your fire rate and make up for it.

Getting to the Air Rifle Gun is quite simple as the Kraken offers you ample quests and time to progress up to it. It can be purchased straight from Henry's Harpoon Shop by going inside to the back and purchasing it for 2,150 cash.

It can be purchased from the Lightkeeper within Angler Cave after completing the Lost Captain's Questline.
