The main gameplay of Abyss involves using a harpoon tool to latch and catch fish while underwater.

Catching a fish involves a mini-game where you try to keep the fish within the hook bar until the progress bar completes. Stay on your toes or else the fish may get away!

You can also fish over 500 variants and mutations of different types of fish. Collect as much rarer fish as you can and sell them to the Kraken to get money!

Exploring the depths of the ocean allows you access new and unique fish, gears, and other treasures to progress your character.

Buying more powerful Tubes allow you to dive under deeper depths and discover more never-before seen creatures you can only find on such areas!

Manage your Oxygen and Weight

Abyss - Managing Oxygen and Weight
It's not just fishing! Abyss also features a level system and resource management in the form of Oxygen and Weight. Oxygen is basically your HP meter, which depletes the more you spend underwater over time, and losing all of them is game over, and Weight is your maximum capacity for carrying fish.

As mentioned, Tubes also give you more Oxygen and Weight capacity, but there are also other ways to manage Oxygen and Weight from the class system, artifacts, and other items!

Races as a Class System

Abyss - Races and RPG

Abyss also features a class system called Races. If you've played The Forge before, it will feature a similar concept with a gacha system!

Races give you various buffs such as speed, damage boosts, and oxygen recovery, with the rarer races giving race-specific passive skills as well. The Races you get is RNG, and you can only roll them by using star currency. These can be obtained from completing quests and achievements.

Equip Artifacts to Gain Buffs

Abyss - Artifacts

When fishing, you can also get Geodes which contains Artifacts. These artifacts are relic equipments that provide you various buffs to XP, damage, and other stats. Each artifacts has its own rarity and unique stats, and the tier effect you get is random!

Fighting Aggressive Fish and Bosses

Abyss - Angler Fish

Fishing underwater is not so peaceful! There are certain hostile Fish you need to avoid or fight against in order to survive the deeper depths. Luckily, you can upgrade your own harpoons and tubes, and own oxygen recovery items for survival!
