Geodes are item you can find when attempting to catch a Fish. Geodes can be opened to obtain Artifacts that grant further bonuses to your character.

Equipping Artifacts can significantly help you progress through the game.

How to Get Geodes

Found Randomly Through Fishing

Opening Random Geodes
As you fish, a treasure chest icon can randomly appear on the right side of the screen. You will need to hover over the icon long enough to obtain the Geode.

Make sure not to catch the fish too fast, as this can lose the Geode.

How to Crack a Geode

Crack Geodes With Virelia

Virelia Location
You can crack Geodes by interacting with Virelia and selecting the Open Artifacts option. Cracking a Geode costs money and it will take some time to actually open.

Once enough time has passed, you can obtain an Artifact from the cracked Geode by speaking to Virelia again. Virelia can be found in the starting Island, near the Kraken.
