Story and Plot Summary

No More Heroes 3 Backstory

No More Heroes 3 takes place 9 years after the events of No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and 2 years after Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. Upon learning of the alien Invasion, Travis returns to Santa Destroy after several years in hiatus to help take down the galactic superheroes that have come to conquer earth.

Prologue: Damon Meets FU

Several years before the start of the series, a young Damon Riccitiello found a crashed alien spaceship while biking in the woods. Near the wreckage, he finds the unconscious body of FU, a small alien life form from an unknown planet. After noticing a squad of government officers searching the premises, he secretly takes FU back to his home.

As FU recovers from his injuries, he and Damon form a close bond and quickly become best friends. After FU has recovered, they return to the crash site to find a mysterious piece of FU's ship. When Damon finds it in the crater, FU gives Damon a mystical power with the touch of his finger.

After recovering the mysterious piece of alien technology, the two friends start building a new spaceship in Damon's treehouse to take FU home. After finishing the spaceship, FU quickly leaves earth before a squad of government officers could climb up the treehouse. Before taking off, he promises Damon that he will return to earth in 20 years.

The Reunion: FU Returns to Earth

20 years after FU left earth, Damon has become a successful CEO of a large company with the help of the mystical powers given to him by FU in his childhood. On the same day as FU's departure, Damon sits by the spot where his old treehouse used to be with Sylvia Christel, his secretary.

After a few moments, a large spaceship flies in overhead. FU, along with a few of his friends, appears in front of Damon. FU is impressed with Damon's accomplishments on earth and proposes that he join the aliens as they take over the planet. Damon then stands in horror as FU commands one of his accomplices, Velvet Chair Girl, to wipe out an entire city.

Travis Meets the Aliens

After Damon and FU reunite, Mr. Black Hole, the tenth ranking galactic superhero, arrives at Santa Destroy with a few of his alien henchmen to tear the place down. When Travis Touchdown hears the commotion from inside his Motel room, he steps outside and defeats the aliens with the help of Shinobu Jacobs and Bad Girl.

Travis enters Mr. Black Hole's UFO and receives a surprise call from Sylvia, who tells him to defeat the tenth ranking member and take his spot. When he does, Sylvia meets with Travis to explain that he must defeat all ten galactic superhero members to save the world.

Avenging Shinobu and Badman

Back in the Motel, Travis hears commotion coming from outside and sees that FU has come to face Travis in his home. Both Shinobu and Badman arrive to help Travis defeat the alien but are both taken down by FU. Shinobu is left incapacitated and without her arms, while Badman is killed during the confrontation.

The ordeal becomes one of Travis' main motivations to continue his journey to defeating all of the galactic superheroes.

Travis vs. Galactic Superhero Members

Before Travis can take on FU, he must first defeat the other galactic superhero members by participating in ranked battles. Though some of the galactic superheroes are killed through other means, Travis will still need to defeat other challengers to move on to the next rank.

Travis Dies and is Revived

Before his battle with FU, Travis receives mail from a mysterious stranger who tells him to meet him at the Motel Parking Lot. After waiting at the parking lot, Henry Cooldown, Travis' twin brother, arrives to kill Travis, but Travis gains the upper hand and kills his brother.

However, while Travis is sitting at the toilet, Henry enters the restroom, completely unscathed, and decapitates Travis. In another world, Travis meets Deathman, a videogame character in the world of the game. He brings Travis back to the world of the living where he digs himself out of his grave with the help of Takashi Miike.

Climax: Travis vs. FU

After Travis has defeated all nine of the other galactic superheroes, he must now face off against FU, the first ranking galactic superhero who sits atop Damon Tower. However, Travis does not go through this battle alone as he is helped by old friends and new friends he has made along the way.

The Mastermind: Damon

Once FU is defeated, he is transformed back into his old form when he first visited earth. He runs back to his tiny spaceship and attempts to flee. However, his spaceship is blown up by none other than Damon.

Damon reveals to Travis that the aliens were a part of his plan to kill Travis for punching him in the face. He enters a giant mecha suit and fights Travis. However, after destroying the mecha suit, they both end up in a strange dimension where they challenge each other in a 2D sumo wrestling match.

How to Beat Damon

The True Ending

After Damon and FU have been defeated, the entire gang arranges a funeral for Badman. During the funeral, Jesse Baptiste V, FU's father, comes to earth and attempts peace negotiations with the earthlings. However, the attempt fails, and he tries to conquer the planet instead.

Before the king could act, he is suddenly killed by two mysterious visitors from the future. The visitors are Travis and Sylvia's twins from the future. It is also revealed that the Native Dancer is Travis' grandson, which is why he kept calling Travis Grandpa.

They have come to the past to kill Henry Cooldown, who plans to kill Travis and side with the aliens to destroy the planet. They ask Travis to join them in their fight for the future.
