Complete Story Walkthrough
Exclusive to the Berry Sweet difficulty, the Auto-Guard serves as a highly useful crutch for players. It effectively makes it impossible for players to die in combat. Whenever an enemy lands a direct hit, it is instead blocked by the Auto-Guard.
If having this crutch makes the game sound too easy for you, you might enjoy playing through the Bitter difficulty instead.
Upon dying in-game, you will be given the choice to either retry or return to the motel. If you click retry, you will be redirected to the Roulette Wheel.
Depending on your difficulty, the roulette may offer different rewards. In particular. the Roulette for Spicy difficulty seems to be different from other difficulties. Dying on the Spicy difficulty leaves the roulette with the options between not having any effects or restarting the battle without power.
The Death difficulty is only available in the Time Machine and cannot be selected as a game mode. In this difficulty, most attacks from enemies are one-shot kills, so you will need to be extremely careful during battles. It is also the best way to farm for super rare boss drops.
The version 1.0.1 pre-launch patch for No More Heroes 3 added difficulty options for the game. Aside from allowing the Spicy Difficulty to be chosen from the start of the game, the patch adds the Carolina Reaper Difficulty,
The Carolina Reaper Difficulty offers the hardest difficulty preference which may be unlocked after the player completes the game's main campaign at least once
Unfortunately, there isn't a way to change the difficulty settings for No More Heroes 3 after beginning a save game. The difficulty you choose at the start of the game determines the difficulty of your entire playthough. Make sure to choose the difficulty that you will be comforable with!
