The SG-8 Punisher is not a bad weapon per se, but you definitely should get a better shotgun. While the damage output of this shotgun is high, the biggest consideration against this weapon is its Rounds Reload. You'll have to wait to reload the full magazine clip if you want to maximize your shots, but this leaves you too vulnerable to attacks while reloading.
