Dictates the Overall Galactic War Storyline

One of the the biggest responsibilities the Game Master has is the ability to control the storyline of the Galatic War. While Helldivers 2 doesn't feature a single-player campaign, the missions you take on contribute to the state of the Galactic War in-game.

Enter the Game Master. As players continue to liberate planets, the Game Master will then adapt to their progress and dictate how the Galactic War continues.

Determines Major and Daily Orders, Where Enemy Attacks

In a tweet posted by Arrowhead Game Studios' own Johan Pilested, the CEO outlined a few responsibilities of Helldivers 2's very own Game Master. The abilities listed include choosing which major order takes place, what daily orders players can take on, as well as where enemies attack.

Sends Reinforcements and Temporary Equipment

Helldivers 2 - Throwing a Stratagem

In addition to the roles above, the Game Master can also provide direct support to players in-game by way of reinforcements and temporary equipment.

While these can help in completing missions, this can also contribute to the detriment of players as enemy forces can also be given reinforcements if a planet appears to be liberated quicker than usual.

Pilested ended his tweet stating that there are Game Master responsibilities they've yet to reveal. Whether or not these details will be revealed in the future still remains to be seen.
