Samples are usually found around various points-of-interest (POIs) while exploring planets in Helldivers 2. Find out how to get Common, Rare, and Super Samples and learn what they are used for in this guide!

Common Samples can be collected at any difficulty level. However, if you want to solely farm for these types of Samples, you can opt to only play in Trivial, Easy, and Medium difficulty levels so that higher quality Samples won't get in the way.

When hunting down for Common Samples, they'll come in the form of small containers and have a circle symbol on them, so keep an eye out for these when exploring POIs such as outposts and crashed airdrops.

Rare Samples

Helldivers 2 - Rare Sample Rare Sample

Rare Samples can only be found on planets when doing a mission at the Challenging difficulty level and above. They are marked with a square symbol and usually appear in the form of a tiny pink rock.

Similar to Common Samples, these Rare Samples are also located around POIs like supply depots and sometimes at a base of a hill or a rocky outcrop.

Super Samples

Helldivers 2 - Super Sample Super Sample

Super Samples are only found on the last three difficulty levels—Suicide Mission, Impossible, and Helldive. They are recognised by their four square symbol and appear in the form of a silver ball.

While exploring a planet, be on the lookout for silver fist-shaped rocks as Super Samples tend to spawn around here.

Samples are currencies used to purchase Ship Module upgrades. These upgrades permanently enhance and improve the passive effects of Stratagems.
