Story Missions narrate how the story went in the Solo Leveling manhwa with a bit of alteration and is played as a video game. Completing Story Missions will allow you to unlock other features in the game like the Artifacts and other game modes.
Solo Leveling has a unique aspect to its combat system compared to other games in the same genre. You will play as Sung Jinwoo most of the time unless it is mentioned in the story or mission that you will use other characters.
You can cast different skills to damage opponents and summon support characters to help you during combat. You can also perfectly dodge an attack, which triggers the "Extreme Evasion" prompt if done correctly and gives you a positional advantage.
If you're not a fan of combat, you can always turn on Auto-Battle and let the system fight for you.
Characters and weapons can be obtained through the "Draw" feature or banner mechanics in the game. You will need different types of currencies to get your desired item for drawing characters and weapons.
Obtaining stronger characters and weapons will allow you to have a smooth game progress and get more in-game rewards. You can always Reroll if you didn't get your desired character or weapon.
Currency Used | Uses |
---|---|
Essence Stones | Universal currency for banners. Can also be used to get other special currencies in the game. |
Rate Up Draw Ticket | Item used for drawing on Rate Up Character banners. |
Custom Draw Ticket | Item used for drawing on the Custom Draw banner, which can also be considered as the game's "Standard Banner." |
Upgrading your characters and weapons will allow you to clear missions faster and get all its trophies easily. Focus not only on Sung Jinwoo but also on your preferred support hunters.
Characters not only get stronger through weapons, but you can also level them up, attach Artifacts, and enhance their stats and skills to boost their combat power in the game.
Artifacts won't be available at the start and will only unlock after clearing the 5-1 Hidden Quest mission in Normal difficulty of the story.
There are ways to strengthen your weapons, such as leveling up, Limit-Breaking, and advancing them. All methods require specific materials and gold, so get them first to upgrade your weapon!
There are tons of currencies in the game and they have different functions than each other. You can get them as you clear missions, complete challenges, progress in the story, or try other game modes.
Currency | Uses |
---|---|
Gold | The standard currency. Used commonly for upgrades. |
Diamond | Can be used to buy different Packs in the shop and can be converted into Essence Stones. You can only get Diamonds through microtransactions. |
Challenges are chapter missions that will give you tons of Gold, some weapons, Essence Stones, Custom Draw Tickets, and other materials for completing each task. There are currently a total of 23 chapters that have a set of tasks to complete in the game.
Solo Leveling Arise has Daily and Weekly Missions you can clear to get Experience Points, Reputation, Gold, and other materials for upgrading characters and weapons.
These will be your main sources of getting consistent EXP and materials as you play the game, so consider completing them when you get the chance!
Gates are a dungeon system where you can receive experience points and materials depending on the rank of the gate. Higher ranks yield more rewards but house stronger monsters to beat.
You can mine a gate only after clearing it and get additional rewards.
You can get free items for logging in, checking the shop, collecting Activity Funds, going through the mail, and redeeming active codes. Be sure to claim them as they will help you as you progress deeper into the game.
Like any other Gacha game, Solo Leveling Arise releases events consistently where they sometimes give out rare rewards, like SSR Weapons. Check the in-game Events tab to see all the available events and participate to get their rewards!
Gacha Games are games that implement Random Number Generator (RNG) mechanics to most of its features including getting characters, weapons, and even equipment stats.
It is a test of luck for almost everyone unless they spend real-world money to increase the chances of getting their desired items, weapons, characters, and upgrades.
In Gacha games, you can collect different characters, weapons, and other equipment. Most Gacha games allure players with stronger characters and great character design.
In Solo Leveling Arise's case, it also focuses more on their characters as players, especially the fans, would love to get and build their favorite characters of Solo Leveling.
Most, if not all, Gacha games focus on character building and development. Strengthening your characters and their equipment will allow you to unlock more of their content and receive even greater rewards for clearing them.
Solo Leveling Arise will have a limited number of characters as its story has already ended, meaning there won't be any chance to introduce a new character in the game.
Other Gacha games like Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, or Wuthering Waves will always have limitless possibility to introduce a new character as their story is still progressing.
Solo Leveling Arise is one of the Gacha games that offers different outfits for your characters. Although these outfits don't give any bonus stats, some players love this kind of system as they get to change the appearance of their favorite characters.
All the stages will have dungeon-type stages that have a limited playing area. Punishing: Gray Raven, a Gacha game in a similar category, uses the same dungeon-style stages.
You can take on the Story with Normal and Hard Difficulty, similar to older Gacha games. You can also get different rewards for each difficulty.
Solo Leveling Arise's most unique feature is its main character will be used more frequently, unlike other Gacha games where you can stash the main character and use different characters instead.
The main character, Sung Jinwoo, also has a different type of getting stronger in the game, which is very similar to how it works in the manhwa.
