Fortnite - How to Play Split Screen

Split screen mode for Fortnite as of Chapter 6 Season 1 is only available for PlayStation and Xbox. See how to play split screen in Fortnite here!

How to Play Split Screen in Fortnite

Connect a Second Controller

1 To start playing split screen, simply connect a second controller at the main menu.
2 The game will prompt you to select a second console profile. Guest accounts cannot be used.
3 After selecting your console profile, Fortnite will automatically ask you to link another Epic Games account if not already linked.
4 Follow the instructions to link the Epic account if needed.
5 The second player should now appear in the lobby, and you can start playing Local Multiplayer supported game modes!

Select Local Multiplayer Games

Only supported game modes and maps can be played in split screen. Battle Royale, Reload, and the Zero Build variants are supported, but not Ranked mode! LEGO® Fortnite is also available for split screen.

Creative and Fortnite Festival Not Supported

Creative and Fortnite Festival modes are currently only playable online. To enjoy these modes with friends, be sure to squad up online!

Split-Screen Still Needs Internet

Fortnite still needs a stable internet connection for split screen to work properly.

Is There Split-Screen in Fortnite?

Only On PlayStation and Xbox

Fortnite Split-Screen is only available for the PS4 and PS5, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It is also limited to only two players.

No Split-Screen for PC or Switch

Unfortunately, split screen mode is only available for PlayStation and Xbox. PC and Switch players will need to go online to play with friends!
