Pokemon Legends Arceus - Who is the Almighty Sinnoh

The Almighty Sinnoh is the deity that created the Hisui Region in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Read on to learn what we know about the Almighty Sinnoh and theories on whether it's the Legendary Pokemon Arceus, Dialga, or Palkia, along with details on the Myths and Lore of the Sinnoh and Hisui Region!

Who is the Almighty Sinnoh?

What We Know About the Almighty Sinnoh
  • Created the Hisui Region
  • Is a Pokemon Deity
  • Diamond and Pearl Clans have different interpretations of it

Sinnoh is a Pokemon Deity

Pokemon Legends Arceus Almighty Sinnoh

In the December 15 trailer, characters made reference to a being known as the “Almighty Sinnoh”, a deity and the creator of the Hisui Region. “Sinnoh” is what the modern-day Hisui Region ends up being called in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl.

Almighty Sinnoh could be Arceus itself

Arceus ImageArceus

“Sinnoh” could be the original name of Arceus and that the Hisui region was renamed after it, after the events of the game's story. Arceus is widely known by the community as the Pokemon god and it's already confirmed within the Pokemon canon that Arceus created the Sinnoh region.

Clans Have Different Interpretation of Sinnoh

Dialga ImageDialga Palkia ImagePalkia

Along with confirmation that the Almighty Sinnoh is a deity, it was described that the Diamond and Pearl Clans have different interpretations of the deity, which is what causes conflict between the two groups. If the Almighty Sinnoh is not a singular deity, then the most likely conclusion is that they're the Legendary Pokemon duo of Dialga and Palkia.

Dialga and Palkia are confirmed to appear

Pokemon Legends Arceus Legendaries

Dialga and Palkia are the box art legendaries of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, respectively, which is what the Clans in Pokemon Legends Arceus are named after. Additionally, it was confirmed via official artwork for the game that Dialga and Palkia will appear in the game—perhaps in major roles—as they are featured alongside the Diamond and Pearl Clan leaders, the starter Pokemon, and Arceus itself.

What are the Sinnoh Myths?

Mythologies from the Sinnoh Region

In Pokemon BDSP, you can read many of the Sinnoh myths in the library at Canalave City. These myths explain the origin of the Pokemon world, the Sinnoh Myth, and the story of why Pokemon appear in tall grass.

Many of these myths describe certain Legendary Pokemon and Mythical Pokemon. See the table below to jump to a particular story.

The Original Story and Parallels to Arceus

Pokemon Legends Arceus - The Origin Story and Parallels to Arceus
One of the Sinnoh myth's you can read in Pokemon BDSP is The Origin Story, which describes how the Pokemon world was created.

The Origin Story
In the beginning, there was only a churning turmoil of chaos.
At the heart of chaos, where all things became one, appeared an Egg.
Having tumbled from the vortex, the Egg gave rise to the Original One.
From itself, two beings the Original One did make.
Time started to spin. Space began to expand.
From itself again, three living things the Original One did make.
The two beings wished, and from them, matter came to be.
The three living things wished, and from them, spirit came to be.
The world created, the Original One took to unyielding sleep...

In summary, the Pokemon world was created by the Original One, who also made the two beings and three living things before falling asleep.

We can infer in this story that the Original One is Arceus. Further evidence confirms this from a Hiker that appears in Pokemon Platinum once you have obtained Arceus. Talking to the Hiker in Canalave City reveals that "it all starts with Arceus, the first. It is known as the Original One."

Two beings may be referring to Dialga and Palkia

Dialga ImageDialga Palkia ImagePalkia

The two beings written in the Origin Story are probably Dialga and Palkia as it describes how space and time appeared after the Original One (Arceus) created them.

In Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, if you have Arceus as your walking Pokemon, you can trigger an event that allows you to enter the Sinjoh Ruins. Inside, you have the option to obtain either Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina. Choosing either one of them shows a cutscene of Arceus creating them in the form of an egg.

Three living things may be referring to the lake guardians

The three living things refer to the three lake guardians of Sinnoh: Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Each of these Pokemon represent knowledge, emotion, and willpower respectively, which according to their Pokedex entries, were traits that they taught to people.

Sinnoh Myth

Pokemon Legends Arceus - Sinnoh Myth
Another one of myth's you can read is the Sinnoh Myth, which is tells the existence of an unknown being known as "???".

Sinnoh Myth
Betray not your anger, lest ??? will come.
Weep not with sorrow, or ??? will draw near.
When joy and enjoyment come natural as the very air, that is happiness.
Let such be blessed by the hand of Master ???.
Those words were spoken often as customary.

"???" may be referring to Mesprit

We speculate that this unknown being may be referring to Mesprit. As mentioned its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, Mesprit is known as "The Being of Emotion" and had endowed human beings with emotions.

"Master ???" may be the Almighty Sinnoh

The "Master ???" in the second to the last passage may be referring to the Almighty Sinnoh that the Diamond Clan and Pearl Clan worship. The passage in question reads similarly to a prayer and may have been the one that the clans used to worship the creator of the Hisui Region.

Sinnoh Region's Mythology and Connections to Legends Arceus

Pokemon Legends Arceus - The Sinnoh Region
The Sinnoh Region's Mythology refers to a story of why wild Pokemon appear in tall grass.

Sinnoh Region's Mythology
Long ago, when Sinnoh had just been made, Pokémon and humans led separate lives.
That is not to say they did not help each other. No, indeed they did.
They supplied each other with goods, and supported each other.
A Pokémon proposed to the others to always be ready to help humans.
It asked that Pokémon be ready to appear before humans always.
Thus, to this day, Pokémon appear to us if we venture into tall grass.

The first passage of this myth matches the time period of Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Perhaps the actions of the Galaxy Expedition Team have helped bring Pokemon and humans together?
