Zenless Zone Zero Mystery Box Unboxing

An Unexpected Package

Image

We came into the office today with a mystery box from miHoYo waiting for us by the door. We weren't expecting a package from them so this was a very pleasant surprise. Other than the miHoYo logo, four corner guards of the cardboard box, and a bunch of plastic wrapping, there wasn't anything else on the delivery box.

When we opened it, we were greeted by the mascot characters of Zenless Zone Zero, Bangboos. They're helpful companions that you'll meet in the game, with several different kinds to collect, modify and level up.

Taking the box out allowed us to see the vintage CRTV motif a little more clearly. It was fairly sizeable, standing taller than a 1.5 L bottle of soda. The box had an opening on the right, with two compartments labeled Side A and Side B, a reference to audio cassette tapes. (For the readers too young to know about cassettes, maybe ask your parents about why there was an A and B side for these tapes.)

Using the pull tab on each comparment, you can pull them out like drawers. Doing so will reveal the different ZZZ goods inside. We laid them side by side, with our eyes particularly drawn to a Bangboo mousepad with very large... assets.

Inside the Zenless Zone Zero Mystery Box

Packed Full Of Game Merchandise

Image

Clearly, with Zenless Zone Zero's highly-anticipated release date coming fast, miHoYo isn't pulling any punches in promoting the game. They've been consistently releasing promotional material on all of their social media accounts to boost engagement. The past two months alone saw the release of three character trailers and an announcement for another round of closed testing.

Of course, that includes more giveaways for lucky players who qualify either through events or draws that the game regularly holds.

Box Contents

The box itself, as with all of miHoYo's game releases, feels premium. It's hefty, has a great tactile feel, and opens on the side like a drawer with two levels (like a real classy package). Its contents are evenly-spaced and protected from harm with a good amount of material enclosing each item from all sides.

As for the items themselves—

Acrylic Fridge Magnet Collection - Bangboo and City NPCs

The first set of items are a collection of acrylic fridge magnets featuring the game's mascot, the Bangboos. They're sure to look great on any fridge as long as you keep them charged up.

Ah, wait, they don't need to charge up like the real Bangboos in game.

Anyway, they also come with another set of acrylic fridge magnets for the various NPCs in the game. Put both of them together and you may even build something resembling an in-game scene!

Bangboo Wrist Protector Mouse Pad

Image

Perhaps the best and most practical item in the box is the Bangboo Wrist Protector Mouse Pad. Using it ensures that you'll be pain-free after an entire day of gaming™ thanks to Bangboo's soft... uhh... cushion supporting your wrist.

Cunning Hares Pin-Back Buttons

Image

The first pin-back button features Anby Demara, the Cunning Hares' resident cinephile and frontliner. She is nicely depicted here while eating a burger — a throwback to her character teaser.

Image

Nicole Demara takes the second button. As the leader of the Cunning Hares, Nicole is depicted appropriately with a smirk on her face. Now, if only they made another button showing her blowing all their money due to how bad she is at handling it, that would be pretty sick.

Image

Lastly, we have a button for the team's coolest gunslinging Starlight Knight, Billy Kid. And, of course, he's depicted here wielding one of his "ladies." Because he's a cool Starlight Knight. Right?

24-Slot Switch Game Cartridge Holder

Image

Strangely enough, a Switch Game Cartridge Holder is also included in the package. Considering that the game will be released for mobile, PC, and PS5, does this mean that the game will also be released on the Nintendo Switch in the future? A Steam Deck was also part of the giveaways in one of Zenless Zone Zero's Fan Art Contest, which also featured this item. Now, if the game will also be released on Steam after a few months in Epic Games Store, similar to Snowbreak: Containment Zone, then that would be a lovely coincidence.

That would also mean that a Nintendo Switch release isn't completely out of the ballpark.

Koleda Belobog Acrylic Stand

Image

The leader of Belobog Heavy Industries, Koleda Belobog, is here to grace your desk (or shelf) with her presence. Not only does she have one of the most badass character designs in the game, she also wields a giant hammer! And who doesn't like giant hammers?

Zenless Zone Zero Official Art Postcards

The last items on the list are the game postcards featuring the different factions in the game. These include Belobog Heavy Industries, Cunning Hares, Section 6, Victoria Housekeeping, and Random Play.

For reference, the protagonists belong to Random Play, but they're non-combat personnel and instead act as assistants.

About Zenless Zone Zero

Image

Zenless Zone Zero is a stylish fast-paced action game with a gorgeously fluid and cinematic art style. Players will be able to execute all sorts of attacks and combos to defeat the dangerous Ethereals. It will also implement rogue-lite features into its exploration.

It is set in a post-apocalyptic metropolitan city called New Eridu, the last urban civilization that survived the apocalypse. As New Eridu continued to survive and thrive, inhabitants were able to combat the materializing Hollows that brought disaster, ruin, and the Ethereal monsters to life within its pocket dimensions. From within the Hollows, they gathered important resources that helped the surviving city advance.
