How to Beat Grimungous

Go For a Flying Deck

Grimungous' boulders are indiscriminate, so they destroy both friendly and hostile minis on contact. Boulders also destroy friendly towers, but leave hostile towers undamaged.

Grimungous' boulders, however, do not affect Flying minis.

This works well for us since we'll be running a Flying deck while Grimungous potentially destroys his own minis with his boulders.

Gargoyles Can Solo Lanes

Gargoyles are included because of their immense sieging potential. Assuming no Huntresses or Mountaineers are present to defend either the left or right towers, a Gargoyle will take it a majority of the time.

Additionally, boulders will not affect our Gargoyle since it is Flying, but it will destroy any friendly towers and begin the capturing process where the tower builds itself.

In this case, a Gargoyle's slow movement speed is actually beneficial, since it will usually be positioned close enough to the recently destoryed tower and re-capture it.

This effectively means your one Gargoyle can destroy an enemy tower, wait for a boulder to destroy the newly acquired tower, and then still be near enough to recapture it.

Gargoyle Guide: Talents and Traits

Start With Defense and Switch to Offense

The match will typically begin with a Prowler and a Huntress from the right, and a Gryphon Rider from the left.

Use Whelp Eggs or a Drake to defend against the Gryphon Rider, and then deploy Rend, a Quilboar, or a S.A.F.E. Pilot on the right lane.

Once the initial wave has been cleared, use Gargoyles to take towers as needed.

Play From Two Sides

Even though we've got mostly Flying units, boulders can still be dangerous to Rend and the S.A.F.E. Pilot when they dismount.

By capturing and holding both towers, we can play using both lanes. This lowers our chances of getting run over and massively relieves pressure on our base.

Keep Rend In Play As Often As Possible

Our deck consists mostly of Flying minis. Having Rend in play lowers the costs of deplying these minis by -1 Gold. So whenever possible, keep him in play as much as you can to make deploying troops easier.
