Bloodmage Thalnos Spell Deck Build | |||
---|---|---|---|
Bloodmage Thalnos | Arcane Blast | Holy Nova | Chain Lightning |
Quilboar | Frostwolf Shaman | Stonehoof Tauren |
This deck centers around usings Spells to give Bloodmage Thalnos levels, which can turn him into a near-unbeatable mini on the field with enough levels accumulated.
Although this deck has the potential to overpower most enemies in PVE and PVP, it has a steep learning curve as you need to be aware when you can safely place Bloodmage Thalnos.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Arcane Blast |
・AoE
・Cycle ・Elemental ・Spell |
Holy Nova |
・AoE
・Elemental ・Spell |
Chain Lightning |
・AoE
・Cycle ・Elemental ・Spell |
The spells for this deck are all low cost so that we have more opportunities to level up Bloodmage Thalnos. Arcane Blast is your default spell since the initial cast only costs 1 Gold.
Holy Nova is a 3 Gold cost Spell and is mostly used when Bloodmage Thalnos and your troops are pushing the towers or boss since the spell heals friendly units while damaging your enemies.
Chain Lighting is another cheap spell and is best used to clear weak Squad minis that can swarm and potentially kill Bloodmage Thalnos, such as Defias Bandits, Whelp Eggs, and Harpies.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Quilboar |
・Cycle
・Melee ・One-Target ・Resistant ・Tank ・Unbound |
Stonehoof Tauren |
・Charge
・Melee ・One-Target ・Tank |
Our choice of melee minis are all tanky frontliners that are best placed in front of Bloodmage Thalnos to keep him safe.
Quilboar is a versatile Unbound mini that you can place anywhere on the map and is a good choice for grabbing treasure chests. Not only is he low cost at just 2 Gold, he also has enough power and tankiness to deal with other minis.
Stonehoof Tauren starts out slow but is one of the tankiest minis in the game and can easily solo most melee and ranged units that can threaten Thalnos, such as Warsong Grunts and Firehammer.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Bloodmage Thalnos |
・AoE
・Elemental ・Ranged |
Frostwolf Shaman |
・Elemental
・Healer ・One-Target ・Ranged |
Bloodmage Thalnos is this deck's leader and main Ranged unit, and can easily take out groups of Melee, Ranged, and Flying units when pushing behind Tanks. Keep in mind that you need to keep using spells to level him up when he's on the field to maximize his DPS potential.
Note: You can place a second Bloodmage Thalnos even when your first one is still on the field, but the second leader starts out at base level and you'll need to level him up with spells.
Frostwolf Shaman is a back-up ranged unit that, though weak on her own, will periodically heal Bloodmage Thalnos and nearby units. It's always a good idea to field both this mini and Thalnos at the same time to ensure your leader's survivability.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Arcane Blast | Amplification Sequential taps increase Radius by 1. |
Holy Nova | Inner Fire Affected allies gain Armored and Resist for 5 seconds. |
Chain Lightning | Brilliant Flash On deploy, Stun enemies within for 1 second. |
Amplification increases Arcane Blast's radius, which is handy on the second tap when you need to kill weak squads.
Inner Fire is the best choice for Holy Nova since it also grants Armored and Resist to affected friendly units, giving Bloodmage Thalnos even more survivability and ability to tank hits from towers and bosses.
Brilliant Flash grants Chain Lighting a 1 second stun, which is often enough for your troops to overwhelm groups of enemies especially if Thalnos is nearby.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Quilboar | Tunnel Vision Deploy much more quickly |
Stonehoof Tauren | Momentum After connecting a charge, immediately charge a second time if possible. |
Tunnel Vision patches up Quilboar's main weakness, which is its slow deployment and small window of vulnerability when placed near enemies.
Momentum grants Stonehoof Tauren a second charge which she will use after the initial charge, allowing her to easily traverse the map while taking out enemy minis.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Bloodmage Thalnos | Drain Life Gain Lifesteal. |
Frostwolf Shaman | Earth Shield Grant Armored to a nearby ally. Ability has 1 charge. |
Drain Life is required to ensure Bloodmage Thalnos survives long enough to reach the boss when played and will heal more the higher his level is.
Earth Shield allows Frostwolf Shaman to grant Thalnos or a Tank greater survivability by giving them the Armored Trait. This is vital for some tower and boss pushes, particulary in maps where there are additional stage hazards.
Place Bloodmage Thalnos on the field immediately so you can safely level him up while he's near your tower with your spells. Depending on your current cycle, you should then field either the Quilboar or Stonehoof Tauren depending on your remaining Gold.
Once the tanks are deployed, you can now cast spells to level up Thalnos. You should always prioritize Arcane Blast since it's the cheapest, but Holy Nova is a good alternative to heal your tanks.
Once Thalnos has 3 or more levels under his belt, deploy a Frostwolf Shaman near any captured towers close to your advancing units to provide healing. Afterwards, simply continue leveling up Thalnos with Spells and delploying additional troops and Kobolds as they advance and burn the boss.
There are cases where you can't immediately deploy Bloodmage Thalnos and you'll often need to cycle through spells or other minis.
If the current cycle only provides you with Spells, use Chain Lighting on any moving enemies to force cycle your deck and then delpoy any minis that become available. Afterwards, it's just a matter of cycling through minis until you can actually field Thalnos.
This strategy is slower but advantageous in some maps where it's actually dangerous to deploy Thalnos first. By deploying tanky units such as Quilboar and Stonehoof Tauren first, you create a buffer of sorts between fast-moving enemies and Thalnos which grants you more time to level him up.
