Our main criteria for our tier list is a Mini's versatility and how it contributes to your deck. S-Tier Minis such as Quilboar and and Stonehoof Tauren, for example can fill multiple roles in a deck, either functioning as a frontline siege unit or a treasure chest taker.
Team Synergy is also something we consider since while it's easy to simply fill your deck with strong units, they may not necessarily synergize well with one another!
Cost and how efficient a Mini is to field and play its role on your deck is another important consideration. SInce you're often going to save your gold ti field your Leaders, the minis you choose for your deck should either be low cost or boasts efficient traits and talents that make it worth the high gold cost.

Not sure when this will get updated regarding the gryphon rider, but pairing with rend blackhand does not give any bonus. Rend's description in game states that cost cannot be lower than 2. That also effects the bat rider as well.
