What Are Traits?

Traits Determine Mini Behavior

Traits are special properties that come attached to each mini that dictate how they behave once summoned on the battlefield. Traits themselves aren't always unique, but each mini will have a unique combination of different Gold and Silver Traits.

Additionally, Traits are always active so long as the mini is in play, meaning you don't have to worry about pressing any buttons to trigger them.

Types of Traits

Melee, Ranged, and Flying type minis

Traits come in two variations, Gold and Silver. All minis will have 2 Gold Traits while only some minis will have Silver Traits at all.

Gold Traits

Gold Traits are typically comprised of two things; a mini's unit type as well as their attack type.

Unit Type

List of Traits
Flying Trait Flying Melee Trait Melee Ranged Trait Ranged

Unit Type is the distinction between Melee, Ranged, and Flying type units. Each type coheres to a Rock-Paper-Scissors style of advantages and disadvantages.

Furthermore, there is a 4th Unit Type known as Spell. Spell-type minis apply special effects and/or statuses to minis in play. This can range from things like turning minis into sheep, or temporary immortality.

  • Melee - Strong vs. Ranged, Weak vs. Flying
  • Ranged - Strong vs. Flying, Weak vs. Melee
  • Flying - Strong vs. Melee, Weak vs. Ranged

Keep in mind that there are other factors that determine which mini wins in a fight. But this weakness triangle is generally what you should consider when placing down your minis.

Attack Type

List of Traits
AoE Trait AoE One-Target Trait One-Target Squad Trait Squad

Attack Type refers to the effective range of a mini's attack. Similar to Unit Type, each attack type has an advantage and a disadvantage against one and the other.

List of Attack Types

  • One-Target - Strong vs. AoE, Weak vs. Squad
  • AoE - Strong vs. Squad, Weak vs. One-Target
  • Squad - Strong vs. One-Target, Weak vs. AoE

Silver Traits

Silver Traits are what provide minis with special effects, damage types, and behaviors.

Some traits may only trigger during specific situations, while others will be active for the entire game.
