The Sylvanas Windrunner Quick Cycle Deck Build is a PvP set built around applying constant pressure with cheap units and a powerful Sylvanas. Read on for the best leader and minis for this build, deck build traits, and how to play and strategies!
Sylvanas Windrunner Quick Cycle Deck Build | |||
---|---|---|---|
Sylvanas Windrunner | Ghoul | Necromancer | Stonehoof Tauren |
Quilboar | Defias Bandits | Whelp Eggs |
Sylvanas is an extremely powerful single mini that can deal large amounts of damage from a safe distance. Her largest drawback is that she is counted amongst the most expensive minis to summon.
To balance Sylvanas' high cost, we've coupled her with low cost minis for a very quick cycle that floods the map with enough minis to keep opponents busy while Sylvanas progresses towards the enemy base.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Defias Bandits |
・Cheap Shot
・Cycle ・Melee ・Squad ・Stealth |
Quilboar |
・Cycle
・Melee ・One-Target ・Resistant ・Tank ・Unbound |
Stonehoof Tauren |
・Charge
・Melee ・One-Target ・Tank |
Ghoul |
・Cannibalize
・Cycle ・Melee ・One-Target ・Tank |
Ghouls are included in the deck as a cheap frontline to pair with Sylvanas, as this mini pairing will usually result in a dead enemy mini. This means that the Ghoul will always be able to Cannibalize and heal itself as it continues its march.
Stonehoof Taurens are also present in the deck as our mid-laner. This mini can efficiently and effectively take chests as well as counter any ranged units hiding behind an enemy tank mini.
Defias Bandits are a very cheap mini that can also deal with ranged minis or other single target minis. Typically deployed right behind the Stonehoof Tauren or in one of the side lanes to stop a sneaky push.
Quilboars act as aggro sponges for towers and enemy waves to keep our Sylvanas alive for as long as possible.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Necromancer |
・Elemental
・One-Target ・Ranged ・Summoner |
Necromancers are another unit that can push reliably since this mini has an almost unlimited amount of hp so long as the Necromancer doesn't die. This unit will also act as our anti-air mini.
Mini | Traits |
---|---|
Whelp Eggs |
・Elemental
・Flying ・Hatching ・Squad ・Unbound |
Whelp Eggs will primarily be the “traps” that we will leave near chests, gold nodes, and friendly structures. This will also act as our pseudo-wave clear for squads like Footmen, Core Hounds, Angry Chickens and other melee minis.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Sylvanas Windrunner | Black Arrow Pierce through enemies in a line, dealing Elemental damage. |
Arguably Sylvanas' most powerful talent, Black Arrow allows her to solo kill most squad minis and wave minis.
As long as we can keep her alive with Ghouls and Quilboars, Sylvanas can reliably de-push most enemy waves.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Defias Bandits | Deadly Poison Gain Poison |
Quilboar | Bristleback Deal a small amount of damage to Melee Attackers |
Stonehoof Tauren | Momentum After connecting a charge, immediately charge a second time if possible. |
Ghoul | Taste for Blood Deal 50% additional damage to enemies who are below 50% health. |
Deadly Poison will give our Defias Bandits the extra attack power they need to dispatch tanky units like enemy Stonehoof Taurens and Abominations. Additionally, the Poison effect persists when the bandits die, allowing our Stonehoof Tauren or Ghouls to finish off any survivors.
Momentum let's our Stonehoof Tauren reliably charge the backline of a push, making dealing with waves significantly easier.
Taste for Blood is selected as our Ghoul's talent because we will often be using this mini as Sylvanas' frontline. One or two hits from Sylvanas will typically bring a unit down to half HP, triggering this passive ability a majority of the time.
Bristleback further lowers enemy mini hp, allowing Sylvanas and the Ghoul to finish any surviving hostile minis easily.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Necromancer | Jeweled Skulls Summon Skeletal Mages instead of Skeletons. |
Jeweled Skulls is meant to amplify the Necromancer's anti-air capabilities since the Skeletal Mages are ranged and also apply Frost. This is helpful because even though Sylvanas can also deal with Flying minis, we will be using her for pushing instead of defending.
Mini | Best Talent |
---|---|
Whelp Eggs | Flame Burst Damage nearby enemies when hatching |
Flame Burst is free damage that helps our Whelps deal more damage to their intended target. This also allows use to pre-emtpively place the eggs in front of oncoming minis to damage them before the Ghoul and Sylvanas arrive, triggering Taste for Blood immediately.
Ranged minis passing over any bridges or higher areas will typically fire at hostile minis passing below. Ranged minis below do not launch attacks upwards. Whenenver possible, send Sylvanas or Necromancers towards lanes with height advantage.
The only enemies passing the middle lane that can retaliate from the lower position are Flying units, but even then, the height advantage usually means Sylvanas will land attacks before the enemy can reach her.
A large part of the success of this strategy relies on applying pressure immediately and constantly, giving the enemy no time to breathe with mutliple problems to solve.
Check below for a list of moves you should make as soon as the match starts.
Secure the gold advantagae by quickly dropping the Stonehoof Tauren, Defias Bandits, or Quilboar to secure the chests in relevant lanes.
If an enemy sends a Kobold or a Dark Iron Miner to mine any gold nodes, send a Quilboar to delay or deny them from taking the gold.
Immediately send your own Kobold down a lane with a node to counter-mine before the enemy takes it.
As you secure more and more of the map, don't get complacent and keep sending out and cycling through your minis until you have another Sylvanas and Ghoul in your hand. Deploy them together from the short lane if the enemy is still sending out minis, or from the other lanes if the enemy is too busy defending their base.
If you feel you can end the match, don't even bother waiting for a Ghoul and just keep sending out Sylvanas as soon as you can afford to.
Continuously push and secure the chests and gold nodes, even when the enemy is already behind. Our deck cycles through units and spends gold quickly.
Don't stop prioritising resources until the enemy base explodes.
