PVP Build for Current Season 1 Modifier

Anti-Swarm Sylvanas Deck Build
Warcraft Rumble - Sylvanas Windrunner Sylvanas Windrunner Warcraft Rumble - S.A.F.E. Pilot S.A.F.E. Pilot Warcraft Rumble - Necromancer Necromancer Warcraft Rumble - Stonehoof Tauren Stonehoof Tauren
Warcraft Rumble - Huntress Huntress Warcraft Rumble - Whelp Eggs Whelp Eggs Warcraft Rumble - Quilboar Quilboar

Despite the presence of Dragon Towers, Leaders like Old Murke-Eye, Baron Rivendare, and Rend Blackhand are still quite prevalent during the current PvP Season.

To counter these Swarm-based decks, we're going to run Sylvanas along with other powerful minis that can hold their own against Squads while still having other uses.

PVP Build Roles and Talents

Leader Mini

Mini Traits
Warcraft Rumble - Sylvanas Windrunner Mini Sylvanas Windrunner Haunt
One-Target
Ranged

Sylvanas is included in this deck mainly because of her talent Black Arrow, which turns her into one of the best Squad-clearing minis available in the game.

Her long range allows her to shoot at minis from above the bridge in the center of Alterac Valley, while her Haunt allows her to always come out ontop in 1v1s.

Leaders like Hogger, Rend, and Baron might be able to kill her once, but the chances of Sylvanas being able to possess them right after give her more value against those Leaders.

Melee Minis

Mini Traits
Warcraft Rumble - Quilboar Mini Quilboar Cycle
Melee
One-Target
Resistant
Tank
Unbound
Warcraft Rumble - Stonehoof Tauren Mini Stonehoof Tauren Charge
Melee
One-Target
Tank

Stonehoof Tauren are included in the deck because of how effective they are when it comes to taking the middle chests. Their Charge trait also works well against Huntresses and Darkspear Trolls, while their Tank trait allows them to frontline for Sylvanas or our Huntress.

Quilboars are present as our chest takers and situational tanks. These minis will typically be used to draw fire from Dragon Towers we're trying to take, to secure unattended chests, or to disrupt enemy pushes by dropping them near the enemy backline mini.

Ranged Minis

Mini Traits
Warcraft Rumble - S.A.F.E. Pilot Mini S.A.F.E. Pilot AoE

Warcraft Rumble - Huntress Mini Huntress AoE

Ranged

Warcraft Rumble - Necromancer Mini Necromancer Elemental
One-Target
Ranged
Summoner

Necromancers are survivable ranged minis and are included as alternate Tanks and anti-Flying units. Conversely, these minis also make great lane-pushers since they force the opponent to commit resources as a response to their presence.

Huntresses are present as a Squad deterent, as well as a side-lane pusher. They have a high base attack while the bouncing nature of these attacks make them particularly effective against minis like Harpies, and Murloc or Undead Swarms.

S.A.F.E. Pilots are yet another answer against Squads, although the timing required to land ontop of enemies requires some practice.

Flying Minis

Mini Traits
Warcraft Rumble - Whelp Eggs Mini Whelp Eggs Elemental
Flying
Hatching
Squad
Unbound

Whelp Eggs are an additional answer to Squad-based decks since they're affordable counters to popular melee minis such as Prowlers, Stonehoof Tauren, and Baron Rivendare.

These minis can also be used to guard objectives like chests, towers, gold nodes, and entire lanes.

Additionally, their affordable gold cost griefs enemies as enemies will be forced to play either spells or their own ranged minis in order to deal with Whelps effectively. This gives you an opportunity to push in a separate lane.

Anti-Swarm Sylvanas Deck Build Talents

Sylvanas Talents

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Sylvanas Windrunner Sylvanas Windrunner Black Arrow Black Arrow
Pierce through enemies in a line, dealing Elemental damage.

When you think about it, the most popular way minis are played is to have the ranged minis positioned behind the tanks or melee minis.

Just by sheer nature of the Alterac Valley map, and the way Squad decks are typically played, minis will usually be positioned close to each other.

The Black Arrow talent allows Sylvanas to reach the backline minis as well as gives her the ability to stand against many of the popular squad-based decks.

This ability even allows Sylvanas to hit Towers that are being defended by enemy minis, so long as they're lined-up correctly.

S.A.F.E. Pilot Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - S.A.F.E. Pilot S.A.F.E. Pilot Gnomish Cloaking Device Gnomish Cloaking Device
Deploy the explosion with Stealth.

Gnomish Cloaking Device guarantees that the S.A.F.E. Pilot gets at least one attack off before going down.

Essentially, it grants this mini more damage, allowing her to finish off any minis that survived her initial landing.

Necromancer Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Necromancer Necromancer Cult of the Damned Cult of the Damned
On kill, summon a Skeleton.
Warcraft Rumble - Necromancer Necromancer Jeweled Skulls Jeweled Skulls
Summon Skeletal Mages instead of Skeletons.

Jeweled Skulls makes the Necromancer a more effective anti-Flying mini, while Cult of the Damned makes it a more effective anti-Squad unit.

Pick the talent that counters the decks you are encountering more of in your current Honor bracket.

Stonehoof Tauren Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Stonehoof Tauren Stonehoof Tauren Momentum Momentum
After connecting a charge, immediately charge a second time if possible.

Momentum guarantees charges against minis that are situated in the backline while also helping the Stonehoof Tauren secure both chests in the middle lane.

Huntress Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Huntress Huntress Darnassian Steel Darnassian Steel
Glaive bounces an additional 3 times
Warcraft Rumble - Huntress Huntress Elven Might Elven Might
Deal 50% additional damage to the initial target

Darnassian Steel is useful against heavy swarm-based decks like Old Murk-Eye builds.

However, we recommend going with Elven Might since we will also be using Huntress to push towers apart from dealing with just Squads.

Whelp Eggs Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Whelp Eggs Whelp Eggs Flame Burst Flame Burst
Damage nearby enemies when hatching

Flame Burst turns the Whelp Eggs into mines that can kill off most melee minis like Skeletons.

This talent also helps us answer tankier minis like Baron or enemy Stonehoof Tauren much quicker, preventing them from reaching our minis further down the lane, or even our Towers.

Quilboar Talent

Mini Best Talent
Warcraft Rumble - Quilboar Quilboar Tunnel Vision Tunnel Vision
Deploy much more quickly

Normally, the deploy time of a Quilboar lasts so long that it gets killed before it can even land a single attack.

By having Tunnel Vision, this mini can reliably be deployed behind enemies and towers to deal at least some damage. Moreover, this talent makes it harder for opponents to react to it.

PVP Build Strategy

Utilize the Bridge In The Middle of Alterac Valley

Ranged minis positioned above other minis will always shoot downards at them as long as they are within the attack range.

Conversely, ranged minis positioned below other minis cannot shoot upwards. This means the bridge in the middle of Alterac Valley can be used as a vantage point.

Send Sylvanas or Huntress to the Left Lane

Re-orient the left Switch to face right and send either Sylvanas or Huntress down the left lane to get them to constantly cross the bridge.

This effectively turns the underside of the bridge into a hostile zone where minis are in danger of being attacked and killed.

Always Fight For Economy

Remember that the only controllable advantage you can have over your opponent is Towers and Gold, and between the two, it is easier to control Gold.

Take advantage of the Stonehoof Tauren's Charge to take the chests in the middle lane while using Whelp Eggs to defend chests that the enemy is trying to take.

Simultaneously watch the left and right lanes for enemy Kobolds and defend the gold node in that lane with your Quilboar if you have the resources to commit.

Sylvanas Can Be Sent Alone

Sylvanas does enough damage to deal with most enemy squads on her own so long as she has her Black Arrow talent.

Take note that she isn't all powerful and has a weakness against Quilboars and Worgen, as these minis can get close to her and possessing either with Haunt provides little value.

Protect Sylvanas With Quilboar

If you're attentive enough, it is possible to save an endangered Sylvanas by deploying Quilboars to take the aggro of any incoming threats.

But timing is key since you will want the enemies to be close enough to Sylvanas that she can start attacking them while they are busy with the Quilboar.

Split Push With Huntress

Huntress is deceptively tanky and can take undefended side towers by herself if she's using Elven Might as her talent.

If the enemy is pre-occupied with your other minis, or has heavily commited to your right lane, send Huntress down the left lane to take the enemy side tower.
