This is the Story Walkthrough for Evil Forest (Disc 1) from Final Fantasy IX (FFIX, FF9). Read on for more information about objectives and bosses within this section.

| 1 | Watch the ATEs to learn about the current situation. |
| 2 | Head to the Evil Forest by taking the path inside the tree trunk on the lower right. |
| Boss | Boss Fight Prison Cage |

| 2 | After the fight, go downstairs then to the room to the right where Vivi is located. |
| 3 | Exit then enter the left room then downstairs to find Baku. |
| 4 | After talking to Baku, exit the room then talk to Baku again for a boss fight. |

| 5 | Once the fight is over, head upstairs then enter the door. |
| 6 | Head to Vivi's room after the scene with Steiner. |
| 7 | Exit the crashed Prima Vista and head to Evil Forest again. |
| 8 | Keep moving forward until you reach a spring to restore your party's HP and MP. |
| 9 | Once the party has fully recovered, head onwards for a boss fight. |
| Boss | Boss Fight Plant Brain. |
| 10 | After the Plant Brain has been defeated, keep heading south and run away from the enemies chasing you. |
| 11 | After leaving the area, from your current position on the world map make your way south to the Ice Caverns |

| Gil | x116 | Found on the top bunk inside the nearby room. |
| Ether | X1 | Obtained by going left and entering the room, after leaving to look for Garnet. |
| Rubber Helm | x1 | Located in a room next to Marcus. |
| Potion | x1 | Located in a room at your right, next to Baku challenging him to a battle. |
| Ether | x1 | Located in Steiner's room, which was previously blocked by Marcus. |
| Leather Hat | x1 | A chest item located to the right of Blank. |
| Blank's Medicine | x1 | Found at Blank's location near a chest. |
| Moogle Flute | x1 | Acquired through story progression. |
Inspect the treasure chest on the right side of Baku.
Upon descending the stairs, head left and open the treasure chest to obtain a Wrist.
From the Wrist treasure chest location, circle around and go down the stairs and search the area to your left for a Rubber Helm.
From where you found the Rubber Helm, go south and you will find another room where Blank is. A Leather Hat can be found on the right side of the screen.
Found at the room where Blank is standing near a treasure chest.
After getting away from the Plant Brain minions, a Moogle will show up and give you the Moogle Flute.

Similar to the first battle but with a different hostage. This is the real battle where you don't have access to Trance. For more information about Prison Cage 2, see the link below.
Your real fight with Baku. Baku will fight Zidane alone making the battle a little bit more difficult. For more information about Baku's 2nd battle, see the link below.
How to Beat Baku (2nd)
Plant Brain has access to team wide thunder spells and strong physical attacks. Plant Brain can also cause status ailments which makes the battle difficult. For more information about Plant Brain, see the link below.
