Black Mage Village - Objectives

Objectives
1	After exiting Fossil Roo, follow the path and you will find a temple along the valley. Circle around towards it.
2	After entering Conde Petie, view all ATEs then look for Vivi.
3	After talking to Vivi, view an ATE about someone with a “pointee hat”.
4	Head to the item shop.
5	Leave Conde Petie and make your way to the thick forest in the south east.
6	Once inside the forest, head right.
7	Take the right path again.
8	Take the left path.
9	A black mage will appear in the right path, take the right path once this happens.
10	From inside the village, head forward then take the left path.
11	Enter the Synthesis Shop in the left most hut.
12	After the scene with Garnet, head left.
13	After seeing Vivi, go inside the Inn and talk to him.
14	Once prompted, decide to take a rest.
15	Leave the village and head back to Conde Petie.

I think they live 'so deep in the forest that owls don't even live there.'

The clue given in Conde Petie refers to the owls that are idling in the forest. Everytime you choose the correct path, an owl should leave. Use this as a confirmation signal that you're going in the right direction.

Enter the Inn then go right. Pick it up near the bed ladder.

Black Belt

There is a condition to get this item. (1) Make sure to view the Everyday Life ATE first before the other ATEs.

Go to the Item Shop and talk to the Black Mage. (2) Tell him the usual so he will move away from the ladder. Climb up the ladder and open the treasure chest.
