Leveling Up Fast

Grand Dragon (1).jpg

Our goal is one of the more powerful enemies in the game, the Grand Dragon, which provides a large amount of EXP to boost your levels.

Prerequisites

Before we can start farming, we will need a couple of abilities to aid us.

  • LV5 Death - Quina's Blue Magic will make short work of the level 60 Grand Dragon, being a multiple of 5. Check the link for enemies that can be eaten if you do not have LV5 Death yet.
  • Auto-Life - While not absolutely necessary, if any of your party happens to take a hit from a Grand Dragon, depending on the point in the game and your current level you may not survive. Auto-Life gives you that extra bit of time to guarantee you get all the EXP once the Grand Dragon goes down.
  • Auto-Haste - Auto-Haste on Quina at the very least will increase your chances of being able to act before the Grand Dragon can attack.
  • Level Up - Level Up is also not 100% necessary, but will speed up the process.

Your party setup does not matter as long as you have Quina with you. As your goal is to level up everyone in your party, periodically changing out members is recommended. This will also contribute to the dragon kills required to power up Freya's Dragon's Crest ability. Optionally Ability Up can be equipped as well if you wish to grind out abilities at the same time.

Taking on the Grand Dragon

Popo

What we want to do now is head to Popos Heights, which can be accessed via Chocobo, Airship, or through Gizamaluke's Grotto. Once there we can begin our farm.

Enter a battle, which will always be a Grand Dragon, and quickly skip over to Quina if they are not the first to act. As fast as you can, get into Quina's Blue Magic and smash that LV5 Death button. If all goes well, this will instantly kill the Grand Dragon without any casualties on your side. Enjoy your easy EXP, AP, and Gil!
