Pokemon Legends Arceus does not have Gyms or Gym Leaders and will instead focus more on Noble Pokemon and Wardens. Read on to learn about the inclusion of Gym Battles and a Pokemon League in the Hisui region!
Pokemon Legends: Arceus does not have Gym Battles or Gym Leaders, as it's been confirmed that the game is set during a time before the existence of a Pokemon League. Additionally, the game does not focus on trainer battles and the battle system will revolve more around fighting and capturing wild Pokemon for research into the primitive Pokedex.
When Does Pokemon Legends: Arceus Take Place?
Pokemon Legends: Arceus has Noble Pokemon and Wardens to fill in the role of Bosses—which the Gym Leaders functioned as in other mainline games—for the game's story. Noble Pokemon are special, stronger Pokemon found in the Hisui region and Wardens are tasked with watching over them.

Noble Pokemon of the Hisui Region are said to have received some kind of mysterious blessing, make them more powerful than regular Pokemon. Pokemon such as Hisuian Braviary, Basculegion, and Wyrdeer allow you traverse Hisui easily.
Some Noble Pokemon are frenzied, causing them to become violent towards the player. These frenzied Noble Pokemon, such as Kleavor, are uniquely challenging and serve as the bosses for each area of Hisui you visit.
