How to Beat Ayre

Remember: You Can Always Change Your Build From the Retry Screen

If a certain build isn't working out for you, you can always change it through the ASSEMBLY button on the retry screen. If you're facing this boss for the first time, we recommend equipping weapons that will get you through the mission first, then changing your build once you are defeated for the first time.

Ayre Boss Recommended Builds

Shotgun + Laser Lance

Both Hands ShotgunSG-027 Zimmerman
Shoulders Laser LanceVE-67LLA Laser Lance

Use a fast two-legged or reverse-joint AC, equipped with Zimmermans in both hands to stagger the enemy. Stick the Laser Lance on your shoulder and switch to it when you're going to make a melee attack and deal damage. If you don't want to leave the other shoulder empty, you can equip a plasma missile launcher or another weapon of choice.

Shotgun + Pulse Gun

Both Hands ShotgunSG-027 Zimmerman
Shoulders Pulse GunHI-18 GU-A2 Pulse Gun

If you don't want to get close to Ayre, you can equip a Pulse Gun to strip off the pulse armor of her first form, then deal damage with your shotguns. Once you've taken out her Pulse Armor, she'll get staggered, so get close, pop off your first shotgun, kick her, then use your second shotgun. This will inflict maximum damage.

You can carry an extra Pulse Gun or a close-range weapon as needed.

Ayre Boss Strategy

Use Target Assist To Keep Track of the Enemy

If you get a Soft Lock on the boss and press R3, you will trigger Hard Lock or Target Assist. This makes combat easier because there is no need to follow the enemy with the camera controls. However, if the enemy goes off-screen with the camera, the lock-on will be temporarily disengaged, so be sure to not fiddle with the camera controls too much during combat.

Make Sure Your AC Has Fast Boost Speed

If your unit has a fast boost speed, you can evade most of Ayre's attacks by simply boosting. But if Ayre begins using her laser funnels to track you, use your Quick Boosts to dodge and minimize damage.

Exploit Ayre's Vulnerability After Her Close-Range Attacks

At some point during the battle, Ayre will unleash a flurry of close-range attacks. Afterward, she'll have to recover for a bit, making her vulnerable to attack.

Circle behind Ayre to Evade Her Attacks

Circle behind Ayre's AC by using Quick Boost. Try to time your Quick Boost to when Ayre raises her sword.

Evade Ayre’s Special Move by Jumping, Then Using Quick Boost

When Ayre's HP reaches below 50%, she'll unleash a special attack where she'll charge at you and then bombard you from above. Evade the charge by jumping, then use Quick Boost to dodge her beams.

Dodge Ayre's Phantom Slash By Circling Behind Her

You can evade this attack by Quick Boosting forward, but circling behind Ayre is a much more reliable way of evading. Once you've dodged this attack, you'll have the opportunity to counter-attack.

Ayre's Beam Sweep: Evade to the Rear Using Quick Boost

Evade this frontal beam sweep by moving to the rear using Quick Boost. Once you've dodged this, there will be a chance to attack Ayre.
