Remember: You Can Always Change Your Build From the Retry Screen

If a certain build isn't working out for you, you can always change it through the ASSEMBLY button on the retry screen. If you're facing this boss for the first time, we recommend equipping weapons that will get you through the mission first, then changing your build once you are defeated for the first time.

Ibis Series (IB-01 CEL 240) Boss Recommended Builds

Equip a DF-GA-08 HU-BEN Gatling Gun and a VE-60SNA Needle Launcher with light tank treads and keep pressing forward relentlessly. Simply fire the Needle Launcher once the enemy is staggered, and you can clear the fight incredibly easily without even looking at the strategy below. Keep firing the Gatling gun almost constantly.

If you're having trouble hitting Ibis with the Stun Needle Launcher, we also have a build with which you can try defeating it with a pile bunker instead.

Use a lightweight bipedal or reverse-joint configuration to hit the missiles and grenades on both shoulders in sync with the opening attack motion. Follow this up with Pile Bunker for massive damage. This strategy aims for the moments when the boss is stationary, making it a very reliable method.

How to Defeat the Ibis Series With a Pile Bunker

Using the Pile Bunker

This setup involves using the Songbirds Grenade Cannon and BML-G2/P05MLT-10 missile launcher to stagger the boss and then hitting it with a charged Pile Bunker attack. Since you only need to attack it at specific times during the battle, you can focus mostly on evading attacks.

Attack Whenever the Ibis Series Does Specific Moves

Since hitting with the missiles and grenades on both shoulders staggers the boss, you need to make sure you can shoot them at certain times during the fight. If you stagger the Ibis from afar, use your Assault Boost to close the gap before using the Pile Bunker.

Keep Shooting Missiles and Grenades on the Shoulders To Stagger Ibis

To ensure you can stagger the boss with missiles and grenades, shoot them before the Ibis fully goes into its attack animation.

When To Attack the Ibis Series

How to Stagger Ibis When They're About to Do Their Opening Attack

Avoid the lasers from above by boosting sideways and use Quick Boost to dodge Ibis' slashes. Then, execute the combo leading up to your Pile Bunker attack.

How to Stagger Ibis After Its Continuous Beam Attack

Dodge the thick beams the Ibis will fire in rapid succession by boosting sideways. Align your combo with the end of the beam attack. If it's too hard to time, you can skip attempting an attack during this phase.

How to Stagger Ibis After It Charges At You

You can evade Ibis' strikes by performing QB to the right, QB to the left, then jump in sequence. Since the Ibis will attack you from afar during this phase, try to get closer while jumping using Assault Boost when you're going to counter with your Pile Bunker.

Focus on Evading Its Other Attacks

Other than the attack motions with stagger mentioned above, focus on evasion. If you have a fast-moving AC, you can easily dodge the small beams by boosting sideways. Feel free to shoot the missiles at your arms continuously.

Use Target Assist To Keep Track of the Enemy

If you get a Soft Lock on the boss and press R3, you will trigger Hard Lock or Target Assist. This makes combat easier because there is no need to follow the enemy with the camera controls. However, if the enemy goes off-screen with the camera, the lock-on will be temporarily disengaged, so be sure to not fiddle with the camera controls too much during combat.

Remember That The Ibis Series Will Revive For a Second Round

After you defeat the Ibis for the first time, it will go through a revival sequence and transform into its second form. During the revival phase in the central area, it is invulnerable and continuously fires beams, so focus on evading and avoid attacking.

Ibis’ Opening Attack Is the Perfect Chance for an Attack of Your Own

As Ibis lands, hit it with everything you got. If you can stagger it, it's recommended to finish it off quickly with melee blades or your Pile Bunker.

High-Mobility ACs Are Key for Maneuvering in this Battle

Utilize a fast-footed AC to maneuver around and aim for moments when Ibis is vulnerable, such as during its staggered state. Most attacks, including numerous beams, can be evaded simply by boosting sideways. Make the most of your agility to evade attacks and focus on dealing damage when Ibis is stationary.

Exploit Ibis's Vulnerability During Its Staggered State

There are regular moments when Ibis goes into a staggered state, so use these opportunities to fire your Bazooka or Grenades. With skilled maneuvering, you can consistently bring it to a staggered state, so always aim for this.

Brute Force the Battle With A Heavy Tank Build If Needed

While the Ibis Series has low HP, it is a powerful boss with high firepower and mobility. Long battles can deplete your resources and make the fight challenging, so using a tank equipped with dual Gatling guns or Grenades to overpower it is also a valid strategy. However, be aware that depending on Ibis's actions, the situation can become unfavorable, so consider this strategy as an option until you succeed through trial and error.

How to Evade The Ibis Series' Most Dangerous Attacks

CheckmarkSlash Attack: Evade with Quick Boost

CheckmarkCross Slash: Perform QB at the Moment of Impact

CheckmarkThick Beam: Evade with Quick Boost

Checkmark(Second Phase) 3-Consecutive Charges: Evade with QB and Jump

Checkmark(Second Phase) Enclosing Attack: Jump Upward!

Slash Attack: Evade with Quick Boost

The dangerous slash attack precisely targets your mech's movement destination. When you see the warning sound and screen cues, use Quick Boost to move in the opposite direction. However, tank-type mechs with low mobility will have a hard time dodging this attack.

As shown in the video above, if it comes up to the third stage, you can cleanly avoid it by inputting Quick Boost to the opposite side only on the third stage.

Cross Slash: Perform QB at the Moment of Impact

Ibis' cross slash will anticipate where you'll be going before it hits, so Quick Boost in the opposite direction when you're about to get hit. It comes at you while you're dealing with a barrage of bullets, as shown in the video, so be sure to play defensively while keeping an eye on the warning sound and cues.

Thick Beam: Evade with Quick Boost

Even the thick beam that precisely targets your movement destination can be evaded by performing a Quick Boost at the moment it's fired. It's recommended to evade in the opposite direction of your movement even if the timing is slightly off to avoid getting hit.

(Second Phase) 3-Consecutive Charges: Evade with QB and Jump

You can evade the 3-consecutive charges in the following order: Quick Boost to the right, Quick Boost to the left, and then jump. Especially during the first and second charges, Ibis' tracking is strong, so use Quick Boost right before it's about to hit you.

After the charge, Ibis becomes temporarily immobile, providing an opportunity to land attacks against it.

(Second Phase) Enclosing Attack: Jump Upward!

The attack that encloses you with beams has a blind spot in the upper left direction, so jump to evade it. After this attack, an opportunity to hit Ibis will appear.
