Remember: You Can Always Change Your Build From the Retry Screen

If a certain build isn't working out for you, you can always change it through the ASSEMBLY button on the retry screen. If you're facing this boss for the first time, we recommend equipping weapons that will get you through the mission first, then changing your build once you are defeated for the first time.

Equip Tetrapod Legs for Hovering

Using four legs for hovering makes the fight much easier. It significantly reduces damage taken compared to confronting the Smart Cleaner head-on and allows you to efficiently attack its weak points.

Equip Weapons That Deal Continuous Damage

Left Arm: Gatling Gun

Continuously shoot the Smart Cleaner's weak points while hovering in the air. Be careful because it overheats after firing it for an extended period.

Right Arm: Bazooka

Shoot to deal damage whenever your Gatling gun overheats.

Right Shoulder: Missiles that Fly Straight Ahead

ミサイル

Missiles that fly straight ahead make it easy to guide them to the enemy's weak point without flying into the ceiling or anywhere else in the boss arena. Shoot whenever they're finished reloading.

EC-0804 Smart Cleaner Boss Strategy

Use Target Assist To Keep Track of the Enemy

If you get a Soft Lock on the boss and press R3, you will trigger Hard Lock or Target Assist. This makes combat easier because there is no need to follow the enemy with the camera controls. However, if the enemy goes off-screen with the camera, the lock-on will be temporarily disengaged, so be sure to not fiddle with the camera controls too much during combat.

Attack the Smart Cleaner From Above With Hover Legs

Using hover legs allows you to attack the Smart Cleaner from above. It's better to stay up in the air instead of facing it head-on on the ground.

Attack From Above Even When the Smart Cleaner is Staggered

You can continue to attack the weak points from above while the Smart Cleaner is staggered. When attacking from the ground, focus on striking the Smart Cleaner's mouth.

Be Careful of the Magma the Smart Cleaner Will Spew Out

Sometimes, the Smart Cleaner's chimney will erupt and release magma into the air. These are not only damaging but can hit you multiple times. When you hear your attack alarm go off, make sure to fly away and keep your distance.

Fire Your Missiles at Opportune Moments

Whenever you see the opportunity, fire your missiles. The Smart Cleaner's chimney is a great place to spam missiles on, though you can also score a few hits if you aim for the Smart Cleaner's mouth.

When You’re on the Ground, Keep Your Distance

When fighting on the ground, keep a certain distance to ensure you have enough room to avoid the Smart Cleaner's attacks. Staying too close to the smart cleaner makes it difficult to evade any type of attack it makes.

Jump Away When You See It Getting Ready for an Attack

Whenever you see the Smart Cleaner getting ready to carry out an attack, jump away to dodge whatever it's about to do. Some of the Smart Cleaner's attacks involve using its rollers to swoop down on you from two directions at once, so get away to jump or fly off to avoid this attack.
