Remember: You Can Always Change Your Build From the Retry Screen

If a certain build isn't working out for you, you can always change it through the ASSEMBLY button on the retry screen. If you're facing Balteus for the first time, we recommend equipping weapons that will get you through the Attack the Watchpoint mission first, then changing your build once you are defeated.

EX Terminal Armor

If you put Light Treads on your AC, you'll be able to bring multiple high-damage weapons and fire them off without having to stop. This will make the battle much easier. If you don't like using grenade cannons, you can use VE-60SNA Stun Needle Launchers instead.

V. I Freud Boss Strategy

Use Target Assist To Keep Track of the Enemy

If you get a Soft Lock on the boss and press R3, you will trigger Hard Lock or Target Assist. This makes combat easier because there is no need to follow the enemy with the camera controls. However, if the enemy goes off-screen with the camera, the lock-on will be temporarily disengaged, so be sure to not fiddle with the camera controls too much during combat.

Dual-Wielding Gatling Guns Make the Fight a Lot Easier

Shoot at Freud with your twin Gatling guns while flying around the battlefield. When you think the time is right, hit him with your shoulder-mounted grenade cannons.

V. I Freud Deploys Pulse Armor When He's About To Get Staggered

When Freud's Impact Meter is almost full, he'll try to put on Pulse Armor. This will keep you from staggering him any further until you get rid of the armor, so when he's about to get staggered, give him everything you got and make him staggered before he even activates the armor. If you can't time it right, consider replacing one of your Gatling guns with a Pulse Gun to deal with his armor.

Fire Your Grenade Cannons From Above

It's easier to hit Freud with your grenade cannons if you fire them from above. Make sure to fly above his head before firing off your shots to maximize your damage to his HP and Impact Meter.

Exploit V. I Freud Whenever He's Staggered

Freud quickly recovers from staggers, so go all out and hit him as hard as you can whenever you finally get him staggered.

Watch Out For Freud's Spread Bazooka

Freud has a spread bazooka that triggers a weapon alert. This attack is very powerful, so make sure to Quick Boost to dodge it.

Use Your Quick Boost As Soon as Possible if You’re Staggered

When your own AC is staggered, Freud will try to hit you with melee attacks, followed by a point-blank shot from his spread bazooka. Watch out for this and hit the Quick Boost button as soon as possible to avoid this killer combo.
