Several characters received balance changes in the 13.0.1 Update, the final update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Anyone wishing to see which characters were changed can check our Patch Notes page below.
Ver. 13.0.1 Patch Notes and Balance Changes

Where to Buy Metroid Dread amiibo
The Ver 13.0.0 update was made available on October 18, finally bringing Sora and Kingdom Hearts to Smash.
The character requested the most by fans, Kingdom Heart's Sora becomes available to play once you've bought him as DLC.

The Hollow Bastion Stage is unlocked alongside Sora. The background of the stage changes and travels around the floating fortress. As the battle draws to an end, the stage will transition to Dive to the Heart which depicts several characters from the series in stain glass, such as Riku, Roxas, and Xion, among others.

On June 30, 2021, the update got released, with the new character Kazuya being available.
From the King of the Iron Fist Tournament to Smash, Tekken's Kazuya Mishima becomes available to play once you've bought him as DLC.

Update Ver. 11.0.0 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be dropping on March 4th, 2020. If the update timing is the same as usual, we can expect them to be added into the game at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET later today!
Version 11.0.0 will bring the new characters Pyra / Mythra. They can change characters mid-fight, similar to Zelda / Sheik in Smash Bros. Melee, allowing for different playstyles.
Additionally, purchasing the Challenger Pack / Fighter's Pass will give you access to the Cloud Sea of Alrest stage, as well as music from Xenoblade 2.

Four new Mii Costumes will be added in via this update, with each being purchasable for $0.75 USD. These costumes are from Capcom games to mark the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise and Ghosts 'N Goblins games.

You can play Sephiroth if you purchased Fighter Pass 2 or Challenger Pack 8 (Sephiroth).
Sephiroth Guide: Combos and Tier Placement
This Challenger pack includes the Northern Cave, Sephiroth's iconic resting place from Final Fantasy 7, which is a welcome addition for any FF fan out there.

Cloud will have a new Omnislash for his costumes for P2, P4, P6, and P8, which are his Advent Children costumes. It will show Omnislash Ver. 5 where his sword breaks into multiple smaller blades, rather than the traditional Omnislash. For fans of Advent Children, they'll recognize this as how he beat Sephiroth there, and it is a fun cosmetic change.
You will be able to pick between Random from All songs
and Random from My Music
for Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Big Battlefield and Final Destination stages. Listen to your favorite beats while Smashing it out with your friends!
To switch between options, access My Music via the Options or the Vault and then press the X Button.
The Sephiroth Challenge will be implemented for a limited time from December 18 to December 23. If you complete it and you own Sephiroth, you will be able to unlock him as a character early!

- The Sephiroth Challenge mode event has been added for a limited time.
- You can attempt this mode if you've purchased the Sephiroth Challenger Pack or the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Defeating Sephiroth will unlock him as a playable fighter and grant access to his stage.
- This mode will appear on the upper left of the main menu. Press the + Button to take on the challenge.
- Once the event period is over, the mode will become unavailable, but Sephiroth and his stage will be unlocked immediately for anyone who has purchased the Sephiroth Challenger Pack or the Fighters Pass Vol. 2.
- Several issues have been fixed to improve gameplay experience.

- Fixed an issue where you could not use the stick to jump while falling after creating an anvil using the down air attack.
- Fixed an issue where the gunman from Duck Hunt’s down special and the phantom from Zelda’s down special were not behaving as intended.
- Fixed an issue where the initial velocity of Samus’s and Dark Samus’s up special when used on the ground was not behaving as intended.
- Fixed an issue where fighters would sometimes warp on the Venom stage.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes fighters would pass through landscapes when they were launched on some stages.

- Fixed the issue where sometimes an opposing fighter would go through the landscape when Steve/Alex created a block at a certain location and the opposing fighter destroyed the block.
- Fixed the issue where sometimes an opposing fighter would go through the landscape when Steve/Alex created a block at a certain location and the anvil created with a down air attack struck the opposing fighter.
- Fixed the issue where the opposing fighter would become uncontrollable when Steve/Alex hit them with a minecart in certain situations.
- Fixed the issue where if Steve/Alex's minecart bounced off the wall, it would not hit the opposing fighter.
- Fixed the issue where opposing fighters carried in Steve/Alex's minecart would sometimes be warped to the original location where they were picked up.
- Fixed the issue where certain fighters could go through Steve/Alex's block once KO'd.

- You can now sync your game with Smash World, a service accessible via the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app. Available features include viewing some of the things posted to Shared Content, and creating spirit teams from the spirits you have collected.
・The Smash World service is planned to begin after the distribution of Ver. 3.0.0. If you still don't see Smash World in your list of services, please try again later.
- It is now easier to be matched with players who have a similar Global Smash Power in Quickplay. Further improvements and adjustments to matchmaking are planned.

To update SSBU from the home screen, select it and press the + button.
Select the Software Update option and choose how you want to update it. Via Internet is the most reliable method to do so.
Take note that you will no longer be able to view replays from a lower version.
If Nintendo's official servers are offline, that may explain why you aren't able to update your game.
