List of Contents

Unfortunately, the Adventure mode of Smash Ultimate remains single player. You cannot ask for help by bringing in a firend, so if ever you're stuck, simply level up your spirit or change spirits to beat your current level. Alternatively, you can try lowering the difficulty level.
World of Light Difficulty Setting Differences and How to Change
World of Light is the only mode that's single player exclusive. Most of the other modes can be enjoyed with a friend. The closest to a co-op experience would be Classic Mode. Otherwise you could play the Mob Smash and Spirit Board with friends. If you are connected to the internet, you can play Online Matches as well.

To play classic mode multiplayer, simply press the left and right shoulder buttons on the second controller once you're in the character select screen. You'll know it worked if you can see two character portraits next to the scroll at the bottom.

When you play in Classic Mode with a friend, your individual character high score is replaced with a Team High Score, which does not count towards your individual character. This is a quick way to earn Fighter Spirits.

You can play Mob Smash by pressing the left and right shoulder buttons on the second controller once you're in the character select screen, just like in Classic mode. You can take out hordes of enemies together!

You can play Spirit Board in multiplayer after select what spirit you want to fight. Once there, you can choose your party, and in the select screen press the left and right shoulder buttons on the other. You can play with up to four others.

You can play online co op, in a two-on-two matchup with other duos online! Take note that this does not increase GSP. To learn how to increase your GSP quickly on your own, check out the guide below!
