There are 21 different status ailments that your party and your enemies can inflict on one another during combat in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster. Learn all the different status ailments, how to cure them, and how to counter status ailments in battle.

Attack is raised by 1.5x.

Boost Character becomes engulfed in a yellow aura.
Attack is raised by 2x for a random amount of turns. Once effect wears off, user takes half the damage inflicted during Boost.

Hyper Character becomes engulfed in a blue aura.
Raises Magic damage by 50%, also raises the chance of the magic backfiring by 20%.

Causes character to Panic and not not follow orders; attacks on their own.

Bucket Appears as bucket over character's head.
Accuracy is lowered by 50% for the afflicted character.

Lose Balance Character will be in a weak status and will have a circle running over their heads.
Cannot attack or use magic, but can use items.

Cannot take any action in battle.

Poison Appears as a small demon above victim's head.
Damages 1/16 (about 6%) of the afflicted character's HP every turn.

Shrink Characters appear to shrink in size.

Silence An ellipsis bubble looms over character's head.

Sleep Character falls into sleep.
Unable to take any action. If attacked, character will wake up but take double damage.

Weak Character falls down the ground, weak.
No adverse effects.

Faint Character succumbs to death.
Cannot be used unless resurrected, character will not gain exp after battle if not resurrected.

There are 21 different status ailments in Suikoden 2 HD Remaster. Some, like Anger, Boost, Hyper, and Toasty, offer positive effects but most will mess with your strategy and deal damage.

You can cure ailments by using cooked dishes from your restaurant during battle. Certain items, like needles and antitoxins, also remove specific conditions.

Additionally, equipping the right equipment can help prevent your characters from getting afflicted in the first place.

Have Cures Ready

Items like Antitoxins and Needles are good to carry in your item bag in case one of your characters is afflicted with either Poison or Balloon, respectively.

Getting rid of these status ailments as soon as possible during battle ensures that you will control the flow of the battle.

Status ailments depend on a character's speed and evasion rate.

Raising your character's Speed and Luck will allow them to successfully dodge status ailment-afflicting attacks.

Stay at an Inn

Suikoden 2 - Stay at the Inn.png

Staying at an inn fully removes any status ailment from your character.

However, it also wipes out beneficial buffs like Toasty. So choose your timing carefully.
