7DSO Is An Original Story in an Alternate Timeline

While The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is not claimed to be canon within the anime and manga's timeline, it is a retelling of the original story. Tristan, the main protagonist of the game, joined by Tioreh, unexpectedly discover the powers of the Book of Stars.

This in turn creates an alternate version of already existing locations in the anime, such as the once dried up lake in the beginning of Act 1 that reverted back to a water-filled lake after activating the Book of Stars. Using an alternate timeline allows the game to create new and original stories while also referring to familiar scenes and characters.
